The Tri-State S/SS Association will allow existing IHRA classes (Pure Stock, Crate Motor, Stock/GT and SS/Production cars to compete in 2018. Our races are usually in eastern OH, western PA, and Maryland. Our season finale, The Mason-Dixon S/SS Fall Classic will be in less than two weeks in Hagerstown MD on November 3-5. One race each on 11/4 and 11/5; the Sunday 11/5 race paying a guaranteed at least $2,000, or more, to win.

I appreciate the thought, but we did try a second time, and even with perfect weather, participation dropped significantly, and we lost our &$$. Another independent promoter put on two $10,000 guaranteed purse events ($100 entry, $5K/win) this year, and he lost his &$$ on both of them. This is not a viable business model.

I *am* glad to see associations start to talk to each other, finally. I was suggesting this several years ago, when there were neighboring associations who had TWO dates scheduled on top of each other. I had suggested that they take one of the dates and have both associations run at one track, and then both associations run at the other track on the other date, thereby having far more cars, and be able to pay far more, at BOTH events. No one ever did anything with it.

Seeing the locations mentioned show most if not all the racing is hugging the east coast. In most cases we can race year round out west but not much happens for stock and Superstock racing.

As usual Beard makes valid points. Scheduling race dates to work with HRA races and most groups has always been a headache. Finally we may have some direction to appease the different associations. Conversing will be the key. On a side note: Past history has shown that Series racers for the most part prefer to stay in their backyard and not travel. I would suggest that putting a "team" of players together to make another venue will help to make every ones race turn out better.

Great point.
Would be interesting to see the Associations organize.
Create a Cross Association Points System and National Races.
Instead of one or a few guys trying to put an event together.
Collaborate and plan. More fun less stress.

Have a Super Sized Mike Beard Class Nationals.
East, West, Central, South, Canada some corner of the earth, maybe two a year.

xHRA sanctioned tracks are limited by their tracks and rules.
Pool resources, vendors, marketing, plan two years in advance.
Flexibility to make changes of unforeseen issue, schedule, weather.
Such as Winter race in Florida or Texas. Summer in Canada.

Did you know you can hire a Commercial car hauler that will haul 8 cars and deliver them to the race track?
Instead of travelling in eight Prevost Motor Homes and Trailers.
Just one or two with more passengers.
Our Impala Club does that for big ISSCA events.
We fly in or share a motor home.

Instead of intense weekend events.
Make them longer events such as six days and four races.
Add a car show, work with the Gasser community to add to the event.
Invite Vendors, entertainment, BBQ/Grill, big camp fire, Open Mike.
If close enough a day at the beach, outside entertainment, enough time to share with family and maybe do some site seeing.

Make it feel like a racing vacation instead of rush and fury.

My 2 Euros :o

It sure would be nice to have a stock/superstock series of races down south.
