Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
Any Ford or MoPar fan who would buy into this, probably thinks John Force drives a Mustang.

Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
The FS cars could emerge from this after the dust settles.
There was an ad in ND a while back Barton/ Wolkwitz COPO for 150K Beneath it, a Comp dragster for 45K (or so) I`m sure that COPO is a parts eater, and would cost plenty to campaign. My point is ,who is buying that car? A select few could afford it. Much cheaper than a Pro Stocker, and the factory is already in. Seems like a logical choice... Your thoughts? Mike A114 |
Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
In my opinion, this just killed the class. Obviously,I pull for the MoPars, but with the possibility of a Dodge with a GM engine in it,just makes no sense at all.Now it will be crate motor Pro Stock. What should have happened was removing the RPM limit.
Remember years ago when NHRA made a stink about the Dodges having GM engines in them before when Dale Eicke had the MoPar deal. Now they think it's OK. And I seriously doubt MoPar went along with this new rule. |

Pro Stock? It's hard to believe, isn't it?

Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
I guess we'll see Chevy engines in whatever the most aerodynamic body is.

Original Pro Stockers built from FACTORY bodies and chassis with FACTORY engines- BRAND IDENTITY Current FS cars built from FACTORY bodies and FACTORY engines as produced by the big three-BRAND IDENTITY Original Pro Stock cars LOOKED like the cars we sought and bought from our local dealers-sure ours didn’t have the big power but they looked like the racecars because they were like the racecars! BRAND IDENTITY Current FS cars LOOK like the cars we can buy everyday down at our local dealers with one major plus-todays performance cars REALLY PERFORM! The current v6 platforms from all 3 make great power and can be driven to and on a track just as they come and be very satisfying-add the V8 muscle versions and you have real performance. Not to mention BRAND IDENTITY! Pro stock has been dead for me for nearly 30 years-however I follow the FS cars and all the Stock and Super Stock I can get to on my computers-cars I IDENTIFY with. FS-ALL HAIL THE NEW PERFORMANCE CATEGORY BASED PRO STOCK! |

Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
I think they should of opened up the engine combos, i.e. big motors, small motors with 1 power adder, it would bring new blood into the class and actually lower the cost a little not much, but when only a handful of guys know how to make a 500 inch GM motor run it costs too much to play in their sand box. Engine though MUST be same make as body manufacturer. I hope NHRA reads this stuff.

Re: NHRA to allow any accepted engine/body combination in Pr
I may be reading something into this but it states in 2018 this will be allowed. My hope is it is a 1 year stop gap till they can get a real solution figured out.
