I went thru this process to get the Callies crank approved. Dwayne Boes from Callies brought several cranks to Bruce Batchelder in 2015 and the 305/350 was approved. Rod |

Rod Thanks for the legwork getting the crank approved am sure many appreciate it. When I called Callies they had no interest in stock eliminator. Wanted to use the Scat crank because it's strong enough and reasonably priced but could not get them to do anything with Bruce just excuses so I bought one from them directly, they did give me a nice discount and worked with Pat C as Bruce was retiring. Was not a difficult process. |
Re: 350 SBC Crankshaft Advice
Rod, does this Callies part number come with the legal extra .013 stroke or is that an option?

Jimmy, they do not offer the extra stroke. I bought one about 3 months ago and asked, for the third time. I asked them at PRI a couple of times if they'd offer it. |
Re: 350 SBC Crankshaft Advice
Thanks Alan,
I guess the next questions are, which is better new trick of the week crank or an old STOCK unmodified crank with the extra .013 stroke? Jimmy |

If your not going to stroke the Callies I would leave the stoked crank in. JMHO rod |
Re: 350 SBC Crankshaft Advice
Just got a call from Callies and they declined to produce a Pontiac crankshaft built in the same configuration as the SBC pix that I posted.
I was thinking if it would be OK to take a 55 pound Pontiac crank and tie wrap the SBC crank to it and submit it to NHRA tech for approval??? It's difficult to get companies to commit to a production run for a low number of sales and that's why you have Comp Eliminator type cranks in Stock.. Build it and they will come... That way when everybody has a Lightweight Callies SBC crank in their Stock Eliminator car the playing field will be level for the SBC again. |
Re: 350 SBC Crankshaft Advice
Bob. I think Callies made this 305 & 350 Crankshaft, for sprint cars, they a 305 & 360 class`s & Speedway Motors in Lincoln, Ne. sells them.
