You can add our County Public Health officer to the list of medical professionals recommending measured cautionary behavior.

I spoke to my sister in law who is an emergency room RN and my brother in law that's an ER surgeon, they work in different parts of the country with different political views. They both said it's being completely blown out of proportion, it's just another flu outbreak that will sicken many people and be fatal to the weak and elderly just like other viruses.

I am taking a few extra precautions the same as I do during any other flu season.

Your Y2K comment is a false meme..!
The reason Y2K did not become an emergency is because Software Developers and Program Managers knew about the issue!
Plans were already developed how to deal with it.
The whole process was coordinated by each of the Agency Leaders.
They petitioned the government to make them aware of it.
Congress got funding, Senate approved, signed into law by President Clinton.

US coordinated with every country in the world who updated their systems.
Plans were smoothly implemented and avoided a world wide crisis.

Health safety and drag racing are the reasons I started it. But you appear worried that your boy will suffer support because of his poor response so far. I do hope for everyone concerned that our leaders can make the right decisions in defeating this virus.

Wrong, once again.
I said that because the people who are currently in charge will deal with it,.. not the ones who wish they were in charge.
I say no politics , and you go off on the "your boy" crap.
No politics here..You ,of all people should know that.

For the 20 years that I've known you. Everything is about politics - no matter how you try to shade it. Don't bring it up. PERIOD! We are facing a serious problem here.

I agree..We might be.

Did I address you personally here? No
Did I quote you here? No
Did I even suggest that you, as the thread author, would bring this up as an NHRA issue here, rather than a back door political issue? No
I merely suggested that whoever might read this, that they not make a "p" issue out of it, because it it not one.
What's the problem? Anyone?

Very nice Mark. You're still trying but I'm not interested in your fluff.

Now, back to the orginal subject line. With the virus spreading (slowly in most regions) will the nhra executives cancel events like many others have had the good sense to do?

Okay Bruce , I'll play along. We don't disagree 100% on this, per usual.
NHRA is a minor player in the grand scheme of things. Rock concerts, major sporting events , will set the tone. NHRA will do their normal copy cat routine, after first, under- reacting. IMO

What is interesting here is our Democracy is still strong and intact.
Where the leaders on the ground have been doing their homework.
Despite executive leaderships profound ignorance trying to sell off to the public that there is nothing going on here.
Using their own media to reinforce there is nothing here.

Behind the scenes people were coordinating and doing their job.
Successfully getting top leadership to have someone take charge.
Organizing some head way to mitigate this pending crisis.

Despite the active deconstruction and function of our Agencies.
The assigning non professionals with no experience into Agency positions.

Smart leadership would have listened, gather the professionals, help get legislation moving..solve the problem ...like Y2K..!

Just a neat coincidence here but the main guy here Alex Azar, was in my graduating class at my high school he was in a few of my wife’s classes. Unfortunately I was not quite an honor student as they both were. Lol I hope this all goes away soon and he is a good guy to have in his position. I know I would not want to be in his shoes now!
