I agree it’s all about social media however as I stated previously,, our kind of drag racing, NHRA LODRS racing is not attracting younger people neither as fans nor racers. what young people are interested in drag racing is the kind of racing that first and foremost is heads up racing, racing that largely utilizes current technology, fuel injection, turbos, pro chargers and engine management tuned with a lap top not a timing light and screw driver and at least the appearance of few if any rules.

Mike,
This is great, and thank you! Those of us that actually compete in Stock and SS would appreciate this coverage, and those that follow it as well. Someone versed in the cars and history will present questions and have a great viewpoint. You were very clear with your wording on the cars to be covered, and the purpose of the trip. We have many friends that are competing at this event, and it would be great recognition. Most of us can careless what the forum idiot has to say. If they actually raced in either of these categories, then it might be different, but I doubt it.

Thank you
Sean

For those that watch our YouTube Channel, we've recently featured Steve Magnante covering cars at various auction houses. Steve is slowly getting back into the swing of things after the health scares of last year. Steve's knowledge on all things cars has truly blown me away. That got me to thinking, what if he covered Stock and Super Stock at the divisional?

I'm flying Steve and 2 guys down to film the divisional race this weekend. My nephews will be down there racing, but our film guys will be focusing on Steve covering the Stock eliminator pits first, then on to SS after that assuming we have enough time. The goal is for him to give his knowledge of make/model of the car. If you have interesting history on the car itself, please share with Steve as we can include it in the content. We DO NOT want to disrupt anything you're doing or get in the way. If you don't want your car shown, that is no problem, just let us know. We're not trying to pry.

I wanted to do this as a test to see how the common gear head would respond to seeing these cars in a different way. I think there is an opportunity for NHRA to bring people to events, but to focus it around a car show mentality. Where else can you see so many cool cars, which are often show level, in one place going down a track? I'm in constant contact with NHRA over multiple unique ways to generate content and bring eye balls to the sport. Yes, it can be an uphill battle, but I'm going to keep pushing. We got our legs last year doing the Sox & Martin Hemi Challenge at Indy and I plan on doing more this coming year.

Steve will be riding around on a golf cart with 2 younger guys. They'll be wearing Sox&Martin gear most likely. They may come into the staging lanes to cover at distance since all the cars will be up for qualifying. We'll also visit the scales and fuel check to show the masses how this works.

Hope you guys will participate and if you have any questions let me know!

Mike

Mike, we'll be there with what might interest you. 1967 Plymouth Belvedere station wagon with a 273 ci 2bbl Stock Eliminator U/SA. It's the Moss Wagon", got it painted like granite with moss all over it. And we have cool marketing partners. You would be more than welcome in our pit area, no reservations needed.

The plan isn't to get people into stands. Every sport on the planet is fueled not by the attendance in the stands, but the viewers watching on devices. Outlaw 275/NT stuff has this figured out. The amount of people that will watch a stream vs attend a race is 100:1. I don't want to commit one of the few weekends I have to sitting at a track all day. However, I will gladly play a subscription fee to watch, which I do.

The best way for prizes purses to grow and for sponsor money to come in, is viewership, period. That has very little to do with people sitting in the stands. All sports are driven by TV/Streaming rights and that is where racing has to go if it wants any money involved in it.

Subscribed. Thank You for providing this service Mike

The nephews were parked across from Joe Costello who has been thrashing to finish his car. Covered him quite a bit since it was an easy film. The stock/SS long form will come next week! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N30-Q_ZY3aY
