In less than four hours (11 AM EST ) the first pair of Top Fuel cars are to go down the Raceway Park surface but I can tell you it doesn't look terrific at this moment .Very cloudy and overcast -- the same as its been for the last few days and getting old fast -- I'd rather be typing Sunny and warm -- needing the heat on in the coach last night is not very June like at all .

Speaking of coaches our resident 'Coach King' - Mark LeBreque from Diamond RV - got to help his new gal pal Melanie Troxell with a fridge problem yesterday and between that and winning first round was on cloud nine all day...............even I couldn't burst his bubble !

Bumped into Andy Kinash yesterday and he looked great -- and will be making his 'comeback' shortly....

Last night they rocked-on at the Morehead / Ford bash into the very wee hours -- even the rain didn't slow those folks up............

I'd love to be telling you some juicy stories about racing or even things that went on during teardown (there was none ) but its just not to be --- maybe later ............

That paint job was Paul Petracones' idea he used to own it before Brian Oakes bought it then sold it to Jimmy and his son.

Update -- 10:20 EST -- Track drying going on along with Pro driver intros -- at least its not raining - fans are now starting to file in -- Sportsman are mostly sleeping in this morning as they won't be out on the track for hours .......

We are off and running. Top Fuel just completed round 1. SS not scheduled for their next round until after rd 3 of pros. Not sure if stock gets out earlier than SS.

Jack Matyas 06-14-2009 02:08 PM

Re: Live from Englishtown -- NHRA SuperNationals

3:45pm -- OK --so that first S/S call was premature -- but they are now pairing-up in the lanes....Stock after the Pro finals .....................

is there a curfew time in joisey on sun.

Jack Matyas 06-14-2009 04:16 PM

Re: Live from Englishtown -- NHRA SuperNationals

6 PM EST -- Pro finals finally over -- Alcohol etc coming -- S/S in a few minutes -- Stock -- Monday ? ?

PS --I believe the curfew at Raceway Park is either 7 or 7:30 pm on Sundays .

Alan Roehrich 06-14-2009 04:48 PM

Re: Live from Englishtown -- NHRA SuperNationals

Monday? Well of course. After all, sportsman racers have nothing else to do, no job (that pays the bills and finances the racing) to return to on Monday or Tuesday. Besides, no one cares about seeing any of them actually race. Anyway, they're just a bunch of losers that NHRA is and has been subsidizing for decades.

On a regular Sunday bracket race the curfew on Sunday is 7:30 pm. Strictly enforced. I heard earlier that they would run to 10 PM tonight....I can only assume they have a waiver for this event to go later if necessary.........

My view of the event is.....E-Town is a tough place to run a race like this anymore because of the curfews. Can't start engines before 10 am and can't run past 6pm during the week. I'm not sure what the curfew times were during this event..... All NHRA national events are going to be the same as far as Sportsmen racers are concerned.....If things go wrong schedule wise because of weather.....Sportsman categories are going to sit while the Pro's run......

E-Town is 1 hour from my home.....If I was racing this event.....I might still be there!

I refuse to race with the NHRA National Event Circus....no matter where it is....

I agree with you Rich, E-Town is 1-1/2hrs for us from NYC, I love the facility, we might go again sometime in the future, but for now, we really dont miss the Nationals.
