It also had something to do with the weather... but we did sleep in a bit too.

Hard to keep up the pace that we have been running at. Tomorrow we will be there at 8:00 am and all should be good... We will be at the track singing happy new tune to me, happy new tune to me.......

I know what you are going through with the "tunes". If you aren't a ECU wizard it's like trying to change jets in a carburator with only a vise grip for a tool.
It will get easier as you get used to it.

No offense taken Bill....none it is what it is.....Its life we live it our way and on our terms and dont follow the "should do it this way" but you ask 10 questions you get 10 answers so instead of doing it 1 way we do it all 10 at once :)

Make for "Interesting" life experieces but I will NEVER , EVER in my life hope I had done something, Wished I had a chance to do something, leave something unsaid to someone I need to say, go to bed angry or eat raw octopus again......

Life is to short to look back and for us too short to be dull, we have our dull moments and our good ones we dont talk about.

Its been fun for us all the way, I cant believe its only been 6 months......

And when we get bored well move on to Something else.......

Besides I have to Refit the Car in July for August....But (Shhhhhhhhhhh thats a secret only Ma Mopar, and a few others know about) It will answer a lot of questions about our sanity or apparent lack thereof....

I will say however, that pretty much since the first day of hanging around NHR I started having nightmares about cars not working right! I can also attest to their pure insanity, but I also appreciate it. Maybe because I've been drawn into it over the past few weeks or maybe I was just insane to begin with. You pick one. We keep saying that we should have mounted a camera in the truck to record everything that's happened on this trip because you really can't write this stuff.

All the mishaps we've taken as just another adventure and tried not to be too serious about it. If anyone only knew all the stuff they've gone through with this whole experience you'd probably given up a long time ago. Every time something goes wrong there's at least one of us though that can turn it into a joke (I'll never look at tires and underpants the same:eek:). I've noticed on here that there are a few people that seem to be a bit down on these guys but you couldn't hang in their shoes, just trust me on this. I've seen it first hand for weeks at a time and you need some hardcore... I don't even know what to keep at this like they do. I'm starting to think that Coke should give them a sponsorship though since they drink so much. Coca-Cola... Are you listening?!

I am happy to say that although we did make it to Vegas and didn't make it in time to compete, we still made it there; an accomplishment in itself. At least for me. I thought we were going to be stuck on Route 666 until the second coming. I fell out of the truck when we got to Vegas yelling LAND! LAND! I may have kissed the pavement once or twice too... Word to the wise, if you can avoid #666, do so unless you need Purgatory time to consider all your Karmic sins.

We did make it here to Indy IN TIME (woah) and tested which I was happy with. That was the first time I've actually gotten to see Jezabelle run anywhere other than to or from the trailer. I loved meeting the variety of racers that are here. I can't remember all of your names, so I won't mention any. I think that's the polite thing to do. ;) I was completely surprised at the greeting I received; I don't know any of you, but you all seemed to know me. I'm not gonna lie, it makes me think you all are a bit creepy. Just saying! But really, it was nice and my favorite was the one Tech guy who practically bowled me over yelling my name, giving me a big hug and thanking me for getting Drooze and Pops here. I don't think I can really take any of the credit for that. They did all the driving, I just sat in the back losing my mind sloooowly... (really, if you see my Facebook you'd understand)

In conclusion, this has been a wild and hilarious ride. We've taken many, many travesties and turned them into hilarious jokes. I think it's a real skill to be able to laugh at things like that. I've learned so much about racing and am definitely coming to the dark side. Who knows, maybe I'll stick around for awhile and you guys will see me some more... Give Drooze and Pops a break and stop grumping at them; you don't really have a reason. Unless you're jealous of all their misadventures...:cool:

Welcome Mandie, and you are correct about the Grumps and Meanies. Ignore them, they have no reason to be nasty.... they choose to be.

Perhaps I speak for those stuck at home with broken race cars, illness, or no money to race.... thanks for posting, it makes us feel closer to the race reading about your adventures.
(I am of the broken race car persuasion, hope to meet you all later in the year)

Before you guys arrived, I was in a customer's pit space across from your's and needed to visit another on the other side of the circle so I took a short-cut through your pit area when low and behold on the grass in front of your trailer's side door was a pair of brown cowboy boots. That goes double for me Shelley (I am of the no money to race variety). I may have been to one drag race, but that's it "only one complete" race...the only reason I'm shown 1st in Div. 6, is because no one that wishes to claim that division showed up in Tucson. I was hoping to haul up to Boise next weekend, but I needed $700 to cover my expenses (more would've been nice, but at least I could've gotten there raced and made it back with that amount), and thus my status of your three. I wish I knew 4yrs ago what I know now, I would've either moved to Div. 6, or stayed in Div. 5...but I've had some good racing experiences here (in Az.), so I'm not too bummed. Drooze, Mandi, & Pop, GOD BLESS YOU ALL in your racing efforts, and I'll enjoy reading them just as I enjoy the Larry & Patsy Hill threads talking about their racing travels last year!

As someone with two incomplete cars and a bunch of assorted pieces, I reckon I can attest to partially broken cars and no money. I've got a ton of stories from the old days but will be glad to rejoin you all one day and start new ones.

For now, you guys are out there racing, I'm not! I say keep the stories coming.

None....I think they just listed it that way we "bowed" out....I didnt like some things on the car and we pulled. They must have just listed it as a DQ ? Im a little irritated now....at myself we shoulda made 1 run and then would have been at the postponment....oh well live and learn. Sheda made another run under index but well...I guess if I could see the future...lol

Oh well....nope, never even made a qual pass....2 diffrerent issue and well we did something RARE.....erred on the side of caution....if the race hadnt of gotten postponed we could have hurt it and it didnt make sense. Had we been halfway through a ladder or across the country, but 4 1/2 hrs from home ? And not run a qual pass yet....no biggie....Norwalk and then another Nat, well get time to wring her out good.

Las Vegas I was going to regardless, had I know we werent going to make it I would have of course just dropped the car at indy and ran bobtail....but there was a "chance" and it was a calculated gamble. We lost....oh well....Indy we just mucked our hand so to speak.

The trip was best summed up with the Jimmy Buffet song "He Went to Paris" (replace Paris with Vegas) and it goes something like this.

"Some of it Magic some of it Tragic but I've (weve) had a Good life (trip) all the way"

Chris, Did you officially withdraw from the race... Thought that if you wnt thru tech, and earned the official entry point, you would be entered on the bottom of the list on the ladder..as it was originally shown on the Drag Race Central site. I would have thought that even had you withdrawn, and you have officially gone thru tech...and if entries are offically closed...you should be able to run the eliminator bracket at the bottom of the list. Even if make injector chances etc. Especially if as was stated, that entered will get a time trail and a random pairing for first round?

If you teched in this weekend you are elgible to race at the make up date. The field will be all run and random paired for 1st round of eliminations in stock. Being dq on the qualifying sheet will have no baring being able to race at the make up date.

i have had occassion to not run a race after a qualifying run; and nhra did not show me as "dq" when i didnt show up for the eliminator!!!! whaz up?????????????

I dono....NHRA Tech came around and asked if we were running or not (they were looking for "stragglers") we (The old man was the one entered) David Wertman and we had just decided.....

Maybe because we didnt run the qualifying run ?

Got me, we teched good and never weighed or fuel checked so....there was no DQ as it were....

Ill call em on Monday and see if we can run at the makeup , thatd be way cool.

Chris if you were on the sheet and not listed as a DQ for fuel or weight......your still in.... that is how it is here in Div 1......They can't DQ you for not making a run especially if it rained.

Chris, I am pretty sure that when you call the Div NHRA office, you will have to tell them that you are running the points meet with your dad as the driver. If he was the driver at the race, and went thru tech...they will declare that he is the driver and would have to drive at the make up date.. At least I think that is how it has allows been done?

Cool, thanks to everyone.....

Im good now.....EGT issue corrected.....all flat and "in sync" AFRs good now from both banks and hopefully well be good for Norwalk as well.....

Gonna change headers now for the others without the EGT bungs after Im sure the bigger pipes as it were and see if that whats been holding us back a hair as well as a few other things I knew were/are. Well see if I can hit 1 under with this combo Ill be happy, itll get lower with work, it was .35 under on 7 cyinders lol....so who knows. Oil issues were me being paranoid it looks like.....I didnt like the sheen to the Oil but the Tungsten and Moly's as well as some of the ceramics shedding in a new engine well....different than Ive ever seen any other oil come out thats for sure....

I think all the stock qualifying was over and we didnt make a qual run, Ill find out tommorow.

In the meantime, for all the DP and CJ haters (kidding sheesh) here are some pics, I got to see a 428 and a 352 CJ run, interesting....gonna be tough pickings albeit were still a .7 sec off the 352's time in E...but Im hoping running on all 8 right will make a wee bit of difference.
