Morning all, man is it cold. Its 50 right now with bright sunshine. They have been working on the track for over an hour. The track looks great, but it is cold. No word on if they will start at 8:45 as scheduled

The numbers right now are as followed.

Temp 50
Humd 69%
Bar 29.44
DA 543 feet
no wind.

As soon as we get the first round of qualifying in, me or Jack will have an update for everyone. Yes folks Jack is here, no race car but he is a trooper and will be helping out with updates.

Good morning -- And what a good morning it is -Sunny but the temp hasn' yet reached fifty but it will and in less than an hour we'll be underway stating off with Stock for their one and only quailifier and later this morning they'll have round one .

I hear the Jet running in the backround as the Safety Safari is out in full force this morning along with Lex Dudas' Maple Grove Raceway staff trying to make the house race ready and plenty safe for all competitors .

Weather - not so hot for going fast- 29.46 barometer , high humidity but a DA of only 760'.

Got me a fine parking spot for the weekend thanks to Phil Szupka .

Stay tuned ...........ClassRacer will bring you all the news .

Oh boy - its starting to warm up but here's the bad news - we're on hold for half an our or more - now that the Sun is up and the track is getting warmer big problem -- track weepers -- as in water rising ..........now what ? ? ?

Just looking at the qualifying sheet, Top Stock back in Division 1 without the new cars would be an awesome show. East Coast Stock Superstock events maybe?

Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.

Stock first round - eighty-six showed up to qualify this morning - and no heads-up runs in round one ..........but a couple of big head starts - Boudreau B/SA v Fernandez T/SA ----- Chapman BF/S v Meile AA/SA .

12:20 -- Still nothing going down the track . The misery continues ..............we have water problems but at least its not raining .

Its the same car that he ran in e/sa at indy only he put a transbrake in and went to a 10.5 radial.

Chirs Holbrook is the former IHRA Pro Stock Champ. I would think that he knows something about building a motor and operating a dyno. The cars come with a C4 done by Joel's. What more does one need? Good job Chris!:)

Chris Holbrook 10-08-2010 06:53 PM

Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.

Yes Holbrook Racing Engines built the Super Stock Engine. It is totaly a differant engine. If all of you know so much come over with some cash and I will show you the ported heads and intake and the .800 plus cam lift at the rocker.

Thanks, Chris Holbrook

Sorry folks for the long delay between updates. Been catching up with friends have not seen in a while.

Stock is first out, 8:45 first round. Not sure about the rest, but I think SST is next and then SS for first round.

The weather is supposed to be the same for first round, getting the right dial in should not be a problem. Traction was very good too, and I expect the same for tomorrow.

Today was a long day with the water coming up. Not sure why we have this issue every year here, but it is a major problem.

The pros got all their runs in today, comp did not run. Tomorrow will be hectic. It will be interesting to see how much of the sportsman racing they can get done.

Below are some pictures of the crowed, as you can see this place fills up pretty fast. These shots are during the down time we had because of the water problems.

For those who are here today it will be a long one as racing starts at 8:15 sharp and a very agressive schedule it is for both Sportsman and Pro's .

Yesterday had its ups and downs for sure - the Stock session was one of the best I've witnessed here at the Grove - watching the "Droozemobile" speed to the #1 spot showed me they are working on these new cars -- as it left the line it looked more and more like a traditional stocker - congrats to the "NewHemi" team --- and the delay - one of the longest while the Sun was shining - they tried hard but it took forever and I'm sure every member of the Safety Safari went to bed tired last evening - but one just has to ask -- what in the world keeps causing the water problems ? We thought they had been fixed but yesterday showed us that's not the case - at least not yet .

As for the fans - up and down for them also - I couldn't believe my eyes yesterday afternoon when after a several hour delay the stands were still packed -but in the end they were treated to spectacular Pro show late last evening . As you'll tell from the photos there were plenty of people here yesterday playing hookey from work .

In case you're interested its still chilly here in Pennsylvania - sounded like my furnace ran most of the night and at this moment its a balmy 52 degrees and climbing as the Sun comes up in half an hour - today will have less humidity and a tick better barometer with the high temp of 72 - sounds like it could be faster today .Low tonight to be 38 with possible frost .

One final thing -- go Phillies ! ! ! ! Didn't see that coming did you ...............

Should be interesting for Comp to get two qualifiers today and then 1st round in the dark on what could be a marginal track late in the evening.

Byron, it would be nice to have 230 cc intake runners and a 1000 cfm throttle body at 285hp. You guys in SS are going to find out about these new cars in the next year or two.

First round of Stock completed - great round in the clean crisp morning air -most were at least 2 slow from yesterday - most except Keith Lynch who went red then dropped a 9.80 with his B/SA Drag Pak car .

Others - Meile over Chapman , Bobby Bender in his Kingswood over E.Bednez , Santangelo over Robison ,D.Cook over Ficcaci , Fetch beat Roberts , Kieth O. over Bialis who was red , Zane over Bardecoff ,Lowell over a broken Plourd , Rampy over Beatti , Fernandez over Boudreau , Kier out , Joe Greek out , Wendy moves on , Anthony B's car wins with Norm piloting , Pires over Martens , Casey goes red , Biondo wins .

S/Street on the track - S/G AND S/S coming up .................

Ken,

Take that picture of Bobby Bender off the site....It just cracked my screen....haha Good to see you yesterday Bender, I'll make sure I drag the old man out for the Dutch so he can pay the sponsor money for winning class.

From what I heard last night when I left Comp was getting 1 shot and into 1st round, S/C and S/G both still have to get their time shots cause they got the hook yesterday when the "Weepers" came up. They will only run 1 round today and 2nd round will be on Sunday...Stk, SStk, Super Street all will get 2 rounds today. The Alky Cars may go into 1st round today since time is limited. I did see the run order yesterday but, as they they say "Subject to Change". As Jack said it will be a Jam Packed day at the Grove!!
