I don't see anything on the schedule for the following week, Oct 21-23, but even if they moved it, I'm sure everyone would say, "I just spent a week at the Keystone Nat'ls the first week in Oct, and a week at the Dutch or Silver Dollar the week before, so I don't have any more money or vacation time, it's too far to tow, fuel costs too much, there's no class runoffs, they still have buybacks, Halloween is next week, etc, etc."

There will always be another excuse.

And why should IHRA change its schedule to accomodate the people who wont show up anyway? I believe they already done this with the Charlotte divisional but I hope this was to accomodate the "I" racers that might want to attend the Charlotte event.

I know...first post (I been lurking too long) One suggestion for this race would be to let it count as one of your in division 4 required races. Divisions like division 1 make it hard to get your 4 in if you have family / work scheduling conflicts.

I really enjoyed the race last weekend, IHRA, Jason and Royce did an outstanding job!

I totally agree with that. In fact I think all Nitro jam races should count as a points claim for whatever division the track is in.

Unless I looked wrong VMP has the Mid-Atlantic Championship that week, whatever that is.
I do agree if they change the date there would be other excuses.

I agree with Chip and Dan. I understand the concept of the TOC of people not having to chase National points all over the globe, but I always thought there should still be some kind of points for *something* at Nitro Jam events. We always checked points in the middle of the week following an event to measure ourselves against people around the country or in our division. It's an intangible, but an important one. As Beaver Bob says, "Points don't cost me anything."

With the Div. 9 schedule having been cut back to 5 races, it limited options, and my late start with the Volare this season, I can't get enough In-Division points to be eligible for any points or awards on a Divisional level, and I have a conflict with Jackson, so claiming Div. 2 wouldn't have done me any good either. It is what it is this year... my own fault for getting a late start. Already qualified for the TOC in Stock via the AllStars win last year, but realize that the only way to get in the TOC in Super Stock is to win a TOC Qualifier/Nitro Jam event.

Well I guess since you guys say so it's the truth.So IHRA will lumber along with 25 car fields until management finally sees the bottom of the barrel and pulls the plug.
It seems IHRA (and NHRA also) starts to go in a direction towards improveing the product and then goes spastic.In the case of NHRA they have more of a base and can just sit back and wait for the end,giving them a total monopoly.Then IHRA guys have to make a decision whether to switch or go to car shows.I calls them how I sees them.

Last night I sent an email to Scooter with my thoughts on MIR and this morning checking my email I have already received my response. The fact is someone will always have conflicts with whatever date they choose and as many have already stated on this forum you have planned out your schedules months ago, so what good would it do them to change their date this year and possibly cause conflicts for those that have planned on attending this event. If the IHRA ship is sinking itself I'll ride it down. Hey Chip congrats on your runner up in quickrod I thought you had it in the bag the way you were running. Kept meaning to go speak to you but never quite made it up there.

There's a big difference between moving this race for a divisional or a distant national event and moving it for a race as popular as the Dutch.There's still time to make the change unless vanity comes into play on the part of IHRA.

Ed I don’t know you but what you normally post on here is constructive therefore I am not picking a fight with you. I don’t know the reason this date for VMP was selected but I believe it will be even more successful than MIR even with some conflicts. I'm just saying don’t change the schedule to accomadate a few that "might" would come and disrupt the schedules of the racers you know will be there. Hope this clarifies my earlier post a little.

They're not going to change the schedule because of a handfull of racers that "might" want to go, says so. :confused:

You also have to think the Dutch was moved up an additional week this year, it used to be the week of the 17th to 23rd.

I was thinking that maybe there would be more than a few NHRA racers would go if it weren't for the conflict.
I think the Dutch was moved due to the move of the M.G. National.
Either way the racers and sanctioning body (IHRA) suffers the consequences.

The scheduling of VMP on top of the Dutch is kinda questionable, but I can't see them changing it now. Like many of you have said, people have already scheduled time off work. One thing I would like to see changed for the VMP event regarding buybacks is this. Nobody likes racing a buyback car so lets make them all run each other until there is one left, then put that guy into the winners bracket whenever that may be, most likely quarter or semi finals of the race.

I plan on going to Virginia in the fall but why not run it the weekend after the Dutch and some of us might do both races.
