The weather for stock’s first qualifying is as follows.

Temp 71
Humd 60%
Bar 29.13
DA 2300

This was the early, by the time the last stocker went down it was up to 2700ft. Stock should be called soon for there 2nd qualifying run.

Larry you are correct DRC just put a blip up there about Steve's accident, says his engine blew around 1000 ft, oil got under his tires the car hit the wall flipped and then slid until it stopped. Thank God he is okay the car can always be replaced. They said he went through the traps at 121 mph...

Paula Cotten warned me as I was about two cars behind the water box about bald spots in the left lane. Man! Worst starting line I've been on in a long time. 1.405 60'. I'm usually high 1.20s. Don't think I scared anybody today! LOL!

First run in stock, Boster broke trans, but changed it out for 2nd run.

On 2nd run, Roz Gresens was leaking something and did not get to run. Plourd in Strickland's car was all over the track. Looked like Walther broke something. Buckner did not get a good run. Maiola left before the tree came down, so no run for him. Mikula spun really bad. Something happened to Britt Cummings in the firebird and he lifted.

Forgive my ignorance, but are these DQ's effective for the entire event or just this particular qualifying session? Ie, if they throw in some ballast or good fuel will they be allowed to make the later qualifying pass?

Most situations the car spun or something happened so they bypass the scales altogether. DQ's the run.

If car is found light at scales, DQ's the run.

If fuel was contaminated say with water or mixed with another type fuel it will come up bad at the fuel check. The tech guys usually let the racer know they are on the verge of failing or they did fail. If fuel fails, it DQ's the run only.

Unless tech caught something else (and that is rare until racer has to go to teardown barn which is usually performance driven), YES they will be allowed to make all of their qualifying passes.

Just a quick reminder from Ford Racing

Ford Racing would like to invite you to the Ford Racing Town Hall; an informal gathering of drag racers and Ford personnel.

The Town Hall will take place next Wednesday, August 29, 2012, from
7:00–9:00 PM at the Motorcraft/Tasca Racing hospitality tent located next to the Tasca Racing Nitro Funny Car pit.

Well it has been a long day here at the track. We went down to Weldon and had some really great food at their cookout. Thanks a lot! We dropped down to #113 even before class runs tomorrow. Everyone is getting ready tonight for class first thing in the morning. They cancelled out super gas and super comps 4th run tomorrow. Instead they will get 1 run, then run 1st round. The weather is not looking good for Sat, Sun, and Mon, so I don't think any of them will be unhappy about that.

Thanks to ATI for letting me get two in car cams. The first is Marty Rinehart in The ATI COPO, he went 8.59 at over 157mph on this run. The second one is James Beattie in his CC/SA Challenger at home in his office call it.

So I was a little late getting there today, and had to leave after 1st round qualifying to head back to work. Using the last of my vacation time for my sisters wedding in VA next month. So no full days of sportsman guys. This is the first time in at least 10 years that myself or my dad wasn't racing at US Nationals. Just sold our Don Davis C5 this spring. Been a s/g or s/c racer for a long time, but the new COPOs caught my eye for the next car I buy. I was going to get into Top Sportsman, but I'm diggin these more. I got video of the last 2 COPOs in STK and both in S/S, then had to go back to work. Should make it out there tomorrow for 2nd round of qualifying and the showdown. Here's what I got, all in HD.

Does anyone know what combo the 2009 Challenger's are running in A/SA? Looking at the guides on NHRA.com it looks like the 2010 345 305/421 can drop down to A/SA but I must be missing something for the '09 stock automatics.
