Great story Sam ! As a WWII warbird buff I love all the stories pertaining to the planes from that era. Two good friends , both gone now , one a Marine pilot in the pacific, flew with Greg Boyington but not the Black Sheep in a Corsair and the other B24s also in the Pacific used to sit and tell stories for hours. I will definately look the Fornof's up. Thanks

The S/Stocker bought of the street in 1974 started life as a 1970 Supreme 350. It was stripped sold all the parts and kept the roof, firewall, floors and quarters. New doors were stripped of guard beams and dipped. All new panels replaced and acid dipped 28% The frame was cut into 4 pieces acid dipped and reassembled and narrowed. All control arms, bumpers , back braces and anything that wouldn't melt dipped. Back when most S/S stockers would barely lift a tire this thing would and has scrapped the rear bumper. Always thought it was a pretty sight Black S/S on black car hauler pulling black trailer with almost identical black stocker. :)

Hey Sammy do you still own this black Olds Cutlass, can you post some current photos of it...how many miles are on this one.

Sammy, you don't have to resize any photos if you already have them posted on facebook (or any other website) you just have copy & paste them, that means all you do is "right click on the image & press copy" then go back to the classracer reply box and insert image just above the box where you type out your message into the "white envelope"but remove the http/ part first, then drop your photo in there.

Sam correct me if I'm wrong but I believe this is your red 72 Remlinger convertible in a magazine article from the March 1973 issue of Hi Performance Cars Magazine featuring the dentist and racer Jack Doc Robinson with Jim Wheeler. Unfortunately you cant tell much about the car from the pictures.

Well I thought you would like it and the article certainly is pertinent to this thread. I didnt know if you knew about the article and/or already had it. Let me know if you get in touch with Jim Wheeler and see how he has been doing. I think Im going to crop down the other photos in the article and add them to this post. I think cropping the photo of the car enlarged it a bit.

Re: 1972 remlinger olds

Its not the Remlinger car but I sure would like to know who it is. I cropped that Olds out of the background and posted it on the classicoldsmobile Olds Race Car thread. Its looks alot like the Al Seger/Dick Griffin Cutlass SX convertible in my signature and profile pictures and that I manage to post everywhere but that car had a white top and interior whereas this car has a black top and dark interior. The Seger/ Griffin SX also had painted sport mirrors and this car has a chrome mirror. The car is a 71 and I think its a SX. I think the track is Indy isnt it?

Moose,
Im still looking for that white Cutlass SX Al Seger article. Let me know what that cover looks like if you run across it. Got to be sometime post March 1972 to circa mid 1973 and I believe it to be Hi Performance Cars also. Thanks. Sam I stumbled across the Remlinger article looking for the car below so we have this car to thank for that. And I made a mistake Sam. The Remlinger issue is March 1973 instead of August 1972 which doesnt make sense why the Remlinger letters are not the car when we have the October 1972 picture with the Remlinger letters.

There is a long story about this car involving Dale Smith, Oldsmobile and fellow racers. Some of it interesting some unpleasant but all fact. I don't want to go into the unpleasant part at this time but will be happy to share the rest with you. I'll see if I can dig up some photos. This car was dismantled and crushed in 1977.

Re: 1972 remlinger olds Jack Robinson olds

If ANY one has info on the Jack Robinson Olds please contact me, I have been trying to locate that car. It was a 1970 W29 show car that was built by my father then sold To Dr. Robinson, it was unique as it was the only car to have the striping over roof and trunk (production cars did not). I pitted next to Glen Myers on several occasions in the past wish I knew what I was parked next to!.

Re: 1972 remlinger olds

I remember this car very well, and the car that Jim raced for Jerry Remlinger before this one. Jim had a blue '71 convertible with a wild arrow/stripe paint scheme. Wheeler and Garey(Ron) travelled and pitted together during those years, when of course Ron was running with Norm Chesrown's backing. I was a team member on the Brothers White Pontiac team out of Valparaiso, IN. The Whites were on the factory program along with Truman Fields, Arnie Toftland, Gary & Charlene Wood, and others. We commonly raced against Ron and Jim in the same classes. We would defeat them, they would defeat us, all good, all fun. Both great guys.
