I have no idea if he's in the correct class or not, but it's the driver's responsibility to make sure they are in the correct class. If you are not sure, ask. They are more than happy to help you look it up.

Imagine how long tech would take if they had to look up everyone's car in the guide. Especially at Indy.

Is Brian Oakes car a natural "B" car? Unless his combo is natural "A", he shouldn't have been allowed to tech in Double A.

And if he didn't subtract weight and was at legal SSA/A weight, he should've been disqualified as he was over the Double A max weight...

I don't know what happened down there but Brett C got me thinking after his reference to not being able to dial above the index. And I am fairly certain he didn't mean to enter SS/AA!

My guess is that it is supposed to be SS A/A...that would make sense.

SS/AA in the past was exactly how it looks SS/A Automatic. So if it were a mistake, I can see how this was made. I would have made the same mistake. Yes, its the drivers responsibility to know the class they are supposed to be entering but the class designation was changed by NHRA (From SS/AA to SSA/A) with the addition of the 27 new classes for the new cars.

I really hope this isnt a stupid question but whats the aluminum piece on the rear wheelwell and fender called? I know its to keep rubber build up off the rear fender but never knew what it was called

Those are know as quarter panel protectors, they keep the rocks and rubber from damaging the quarters. A racer from up here in Massachusetts makes some real nice ones and he has patterns for several different cars. They work great, the rubber can be very difficult to remove. If you are looking for some I can send you his contact info.

Ok i guess i have to clear some things up, with me in SS/AA, 1. i made the mistake, last time was 2 years ago i run it in SS/AA since then the ALPHABET cars replaced the SS/AA, so i should have been in SS/A/A , just didn't have enough slashes with me LOL
But after running time runs, i did ask NHRA if the car could still run the class or i would i get tossed, and i was told this AM that it is a SS/A/A car and i could move up a class, but like someone said how did it get though tech, tech man just was worried about my headlight was not wired up, Go figure?????and if ya all think the car couldn't run the index LOL shame on you, first rd was red and run a 8.76 on a 8.76 and still had more , but the moral of the story, i don't have HP Monday and not trigger anything. looks like have to change combo's soon and for the class runoff, i stood it up high and pretty near crossed into Chris lane, i was just hoping i could catch the draft behind Chris's car and pull me along with him, impressive run by Chris Later Brian

Thanks lol never thought they would have such a simple name. My cur currently doesnt have them as you would suspect and it gets old trying to get the rubber off the rear quarters and makes it just look terrible.I always see a few cars with em and always catch myself saying wow thats a great idea lol Thanks for replying

Thanks for 'splaining Brian. I kinda wondered if you converted to a stick (YES, you should!) and the ZL1 got refactored to the 570hp the muscle car books claim it makes.
Better go turn the screws to Armstrong and see if you can get another 8 tenths out of it. :)

The new classes are as confusing as heck and if this many people can't figure it out that's not a good sign.
I'm not sure what bonehead decided to make SS/AA the stick double A class rather than call that one by the new SSA/A title.

I still think they should of kept SS/AA as old SS/AA class and rules, and made the new classes either SS/AFX or AFC (factory car), SS/BFX or BFC ,SS/CFX or SS/CFS.

That is a good idea. We need to do something to stop the alphabet soup madness. Don't know if NHRA will buy it, but need to fix the mess before it gets worse. Pretty soon we will have AAAA/SA OR SS/AA/AA. How can the racers petiton NHRA to fix the class designations?? Any ideas????

Well we are still here at the Gators! We got up to the stands just in time to watch rounds 2 and 3 or stock and super stock this morning. Lots of good runs. Still lots of red lights with the sun shining right on the tree early in the morning. We are probably going to stay here tonight and leave out and head to Belle Rose in the morning. Anybody know when they are going to park us? There are quite a few who are going straight from here.

We are still here in Gainesville! We probably will not leave here until Monday and drive on to Belle Rose. We were talking with Raymond Skipper up in the stands tonight and he wants his wife to know that he just might go on to Belle Rose, too!

We will cheer on the stockers tomorrow and Ray Skillman in Comp!
