Great Work, Jack & Ken...... Appreciate It. |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Weather radar looks good and so does the forecast for the rest of today and all day tomorrow - and it should be a "mineshaft."
Extra delay was time to scrape and re-prep areas of loose rubber. |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Ken I can't find it (owners points) in the rule book, would you kindly point me to chapter and verse. Thanks

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Thought I heard on the PA that after the PROs finish Q4 and Comp E1, they are done for the day. Picking up with the rest of today's schedule tomorrow morning.

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
For you Larry............. http://www.nhra.com/story/2005/1/21/2537/
Comp has just been call to the lanes, the rest of the sportsman racing has been canceled. Sportsman will run tomorrow before the pro's. I assume stock will be out first. Overnight lows will be in the upper 30's, it should make for some interesting racing tomorrow. |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Jack, I know Christmas is just around the corner and I know some day some one else will drive the pink car. It would be great to know all the rules just in case we need to enter the car on owner points. I would never try to change the flavor of anyone's breakfast.
Do you think the year end bonus will be bigger this year? |

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Thanks Ken. It looks like I can use the owner points for me to get into a race, although I never competed the year before as a driver.
Jack do you think the bonus will have a comma before the decimal point? |

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Wondering....
Does Victor's entry have anything to do with Jack's initial rumor re Factory Stock in a separate category? Would give NHRA a chance for additional credibility. FJ |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
thank-you to Jack and Ken and all those who post pics, vids, and results, for those of us who could not attend. Is a quota really necasary at these events wouldnt max entry be beneficial to everyone and increase support, i wouldnt think there would be any danger of being so many cars that it would be impossible to manage ?

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
They could have a higher quota of cars for the event but not by a lot.
The grass pits were not full and could accommodate more rigs for sure. The size of many racers rigs anymore is a big factor in how many cars they can accept in my mind. Huge trucks with stacker trailers for maybe 2 cars was/is common. Big motorhomes and trailers take up a lot of space..... I was there and toured the entire pits....there was plenty of room for more cars as I said in the grass field but the big rigs and pitting off the side use up the space. The paved pits were totally used up by Pro's, alcohol cars, bikes and manufacturers plus the NHRA entertainment row.... The crowd was very big both Friday and yesterday. Today should be probably standing room only.....and 3 deep at the fences.... |

Good morning friends and members - And brrrrrrrr- got to the high thirties last night - good sleeping weather for sure .Todays racers will be faced with some real challenges no doubt - dialing will surely be a crapshoot at best - we've not seen these temps since March - high today expected to hit only 61 but clear and sunny .You want numbers ? The barometer is a stinko 29.29 and the humidity only 48% with the temp at 51 -good news is the vapor pressure at the weekends lowest -.21 with a final DA of around 1000'.
Back a little later - the boss is still in so someone must cover today .....hmmmmmmm - guess you know who that someone will be . Back a little later - oh wait , no trip tp Maple Grove is complete without a visit to the Shady Maple .You know - the 'pig out' spot that you end up eating way too much but sooooo good . |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Jack and Ken: Super job this week end. Like all the others, I am grateful for the "up to the minute" service you provide, for those of us an a "Stay-Cation". If I get out to the Dutch next week, maybe a dozen of Dunkin's freshest might serve as a modest reward. Kenny: Good luck today!
I want to see you and Tom O' Loughlin in the final. Jimmie C |

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
People in the grandstands...YAH
|
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
Tons of People in the grandstands, tons. Very refreshing turnout. And as Jack mentioned, a huge amount of them stayed in the stands for stock and superstock. I heard a group of guys near me saying "holy crap look at how these cars are leaving".... In talking with them, these were guys who had been to numerous national events in the past and knew nothing of Super Stock... We got some major visibility at the grove this weekend.

Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
If you took all the spectators that were lined up 2-3 deep at the fence and gave them seats the stands would have been filled to capacity ,and then some .
Definately one of the better turnouts Kevin , you're right, the spectators got the best show they have had in years on Sunday with the Sportsman cars running. |
Re: Live from Reading, PA - NHRA Keystone Nationals
place was packed Friday also, rode over to other side to get a better spot to watch, it was 2 deep at fence also. unheard of on a Friday afternoon

Many of our readers and members have seen the NHRA vehicles going up and down the track doing everything from cleaning up an oildown to putting new rubber down on the racing surface but even I had no idea how they got there or to the next track .And it takes a bunch of big and I mean big equipment to move them around the country .Here are a few photos of the trucks and trailers they use ..............And this is only a sample as they have much more ! ! !
