It is fascinating to see these hitters from Divisions 1, 4 and 5 roll into Beech Bend in oppressive heat and run for what amounts to bracket racing money!

Some people will never get it. If you think all those guys and girls are there because of the payout you should seek help. I've been racing stock on and off for almost forty years. And in all those years there has been only a hand full that could make money doing this. We all do it for different reasons but I would give my left one up to be there right now in the heat racing for bracket money. You see I figured out a long time ago money is no more than paper with green ink. And you can't take it with you when you go. But all those memories I have racing with friends are priceless. Patsy great job as always. Thanks for keeping us that don't have the time or the paper with green ink informed. Barry

Warren thanks for D3TV, I tuned in for this first time and loved it.
Jerry will do well in Brad's Duster, it's stupid fast, ran 10.329 several years ago at Gateway, but I will miss seeing the prettiest '62 ever.
Bowling Green is a bucket list race. Historic sportsman event and track.
Kenny will get mad at me but I love that trailer door.

Round 1 of stock is complete! Our opponent broke his car so we had a broke single! We will take them any way we can get them!


The rain put us behind by a little, but there are lights here and no curfew so I imagine that everything that was scheduled for today will probably get in.


It has been another really hot and humid day. DA when we ran was 3165' with 86% humidity!

Should always bring 2 x 8 and put them under your wheels to at the very least give you a fighting chance to get out. A lesson I learned racing in Columbus thousands of years ago.lol Good luck to everyone going to Indy. We heard some good news today. Jim Boudreau will be at Indy with a good engine from Line Performance, all Jim and Ron have to do is install the new bullet Tuesday and be ready to race on Wednesday. A piece of cake for the boys from the northeast.


Why on earth would someone want some outstanding competition in there chosen class, 'cause its Indy. Rubbing shoulders with fast guys is always a treat, if only for a little while. It just would not be Indy without the ability to see how your stuff, bought or backyardigan, stacks up against the benchmarks.


There will be so many good class runs you wont want to miss a one. Did I mention 180 plus cars trying to make a 128 car field.

Another pretty day here in BG! 80 already as super stock is on the track first this morning. After running behind yesterday, they were cancelled last night along with super comp. So this morning super stock first, then super comp, super street, TD, TS, comp, then stock. I got to sleep in a little!


The weather is 90s again with heat index of 105 or so again this afternoon!

I will never retire. I will never have the money, even if I gave up every hobby and sport. Barring illness, I will never stop working, I may slow down some. So, at this point, I may as well enjoy it all while I can. My goal is to be like my close friend and mentor, Jimmy Bridges, and just keep right on going, getting better and faster, every time they try to throw dirt in my face. If I do 1/3 as well as Jimmy, I'll call it a real success. :cool:

Well, Stock round 2 keeps getting bumped. They are running alcohol now and we are supposed to run next. DA is back up to 3700'. 95 with heat index 99!

Well said Barry. If you drag race just for the money you need to get out. In my 45+ years of being involved in the sport I have had the honor of meeting some very wonderful people. I am coming up on my 67th birthday and I cherish each moment that I can spend with friends at the track. Whether it is helping someone change a belt or a new set of slick, friends helping friends is a BIG part of what I enjoy doing.

Yes, it was nice when I won money drag racing, but the memories are much more valuable to me.

Just watched Dad get beat during a good race on the YouTube live feed. Identical 0.024 lights by Dad and Adam Davis.

But the announcer had a great line at the end.

In my limited travels, I have to reflect on the fact that I've met many outstanding people, had some real fun races and rounds of competition, gone to some fun races, seen many great things, and have come to the conclusion that there's no way to put a price on the times I've had,the races I've been to and the people I've met. Money can't buy everything,least of all that. It does make it possible to compete however, so those other blessings can be accessed.
