Other than the old farts on here that lived thru it the rest are to lazy ! They would rather build stuff that they can get away with things.

Maybe stock is what it is because of the old farts pushing the envelope "getting away with things"?

Nope....I raced back in the day before I became a tech inspector for NHRA With Greg X. in Div. 1 and Marty Barrett became a good friend. Jim Dale was the National Tech Director at that time then after realizing that NHRA was like working for the Gestopo I went with IHRA. Worked for them for 22 1/2 years. I have prepped cylinder heads since 1969. I saw and watched the changes along the way. Some pretty big names started cheating with acid porting in stock and Super stock and that I was able to see when I was in the tear down barns with a couple of good Super stock racer friends of mine. Since I worked for IHRA I could not stop what I saw in NHRA or have any kind of say in it. . It started to be more noticeable around 1985-86. I tried to get NHRA to stop it to no avail. Had a meeting with some pretty high ups with NHRA at a PRI show back in the day. It went no where. The NHRA allowed it to get to where it is today. Now you see what you have. Its only gotten worse. Enjoy spending the big bucks !

I honestly don't think it has to be that expensive. I see S/SS cars for sale constantly that will run .7-.8 under for 15k-20k. Now someone is loosing money because they have more than that in them, but if anyone really wanted to race for cheap it's there to be had IMO.

When I was 16 I owned a '57 Chevy 283 two door sedan with a T-glide. As a kid I wondered why the PRNDL was different.

Try finding one of those relics today, the Turboglide, pretty darn rare.

Good luck with that !
Do none of you read the rule changes through the season ?
This is not NEW NEWS it was clearly printed in APRIL 2018.
Now inforced in Jan 2019.

Wow Vic..
I remember that car...and you got some grief over a minor issue at 75-80 in 1973.

That car would be great as a Modern Pure Stocker for the S/SS association races.

Some of your Drag Pak friends might not be real happy if they take 3-speeds away from 2-speed cars. They are the reason for the rule change.
