Growing up in NE Ohio in the early 70's seems like most dedicated race cars had names. My favorite was local hero Ron Hutter's "Canned Heat" early camaro pro stock.
Other favorites were "Flying Coffin" "We Haul" "Ridge Runner" "5th Amendment" "Queen Bee" "Superstition"

How about Jim & Jack Trost's VEGABOND. Vega ProStocker in the early days of ProStock. It was a SRD race car, pretty much just like Grumpy's. If I remember right, Trost's had a Body Shop in West Chester, Pa. and painted Jenkin's cars back then. The car was later sold to Ed Sielski who had a Speed Shop in Thorndale, Pa. and was driven by Gil Davis, later to be Lee Deans crew chief, in C or D Gas!

Re: Car Name Memories

My Dad and I named our 1st drag car "Frustration" also. A '60 Impala w/ a 348, and a powerglide. We had a lot of fun, but it was all a learning experience too, hence the name. Non-related but still a good story: In the fall of 1969 a guy named Roy Crandall showed up to the Cicero,NY
strip with a new Factory S/S AMX. It was very fast, but He missed a shift
& blew the engine in the final of S/S. The next spring he returned and had "2nd Attempt" painted on the doors. The car was pretty cool to me as a diehard 17 year old Chevy kid back then.
Stay safe everyone, and God Bless.
Walt
