Wow. I swear that car had been up for sale longer than my former AMC (2009 to 2018). If I'm not mistaken MySpace was still a thing.

I honestly can't believe that someone won't at least give it a try.
What have you got to lose? The rest of us real Racers can't possibly think any less of you (can a FFFord guy think let alone think any less?) anyway. So what if you fail.
Call me a whatever but please, one of you step up and prove me wrong.
Go ahead, I DARE ya!

I think it's more of a matter of the neon being such a rare collectors car[just like every moper ever made.......lol}

Ya know, the person with the biggest, shiniest, most expensive tool box doesn't always win. A car is just a tool to do a job. A good "mechanic" can do the job with any tool.

Been busy whacking off intake flanges with my 85 b!! Mr Yak !! Puke!! whatever !! It would behoove you and the other scientist of the scrapheap to build a few turnkey engines and "trannys" ,PTO's whatever makes those dogs move !! I'm sure they'll be coming from far and away to get in line with their stimulus money to be the laughing stock of the eliminator !! but the free "tubesteak"might draw them in !! Hail mother MOPAR !! that crap aint for real !! STICK SHIFT FOREVER !! No Brown Streak convertors here !!

Your right Billy !! US General from harbor freight beats Snap On !! Thats what the add from China says and it must be true !! A real "Tool" wants a neon or sum other bastard claiming to be a Mopar when the real Mopar guys know that Mopar died long ago !! But theres no reason to stop racing and enjoying those cars from the "glory days"

Ya know Frank, the way that I'm looking at it, this is Ken's site but it's my thread. I started it to "instigate" the possible building of a perfectly good combo that I am hoping a couple of Mopar guys might find interesting. The Racers on here who know me know that I'm a b@ll buster and a B.S.er but I'm not a "bully". I would like to say to the Racers who don't know me, no offense is meant by my b@ll busting. I am who I am, at least until the time comes when I'm told that I CAN't be who I am. Then I'll be gone. I love ALL makes of cars and combos (even FFFords). I just like trying to keep the "competitive juices" flowing between the Racers of the different makes.
Now as far as our "buddy" Bubski is concerned, are we "bullying" him or is he "bullying" the Racers on MY thread who just happen to like playing (face it, ALL racecars are toys) with not-so-fast- and not-so-good looking cars and combos?
He has offered no constructive comments or advice. He is only demeaning them as "sum other bastard claiming to be a Mopar" and to my knowledge he doesn't even race! It's pretty clear right after reading my first post just what the topic of the thread is. If he finds slow, ugly, cheap bastard combos offensive (even if they're in the guide) then maybe he shouldn't read, let-alone post, on the thread!

I'm asking for a little advice about running a Neon. I'm looking at a couple cars. 2004 SXT, 132 HP, auto, weight break puts it close to upper limit of CF/S. Also, 2003 R/T, 150 HP, 5-speed manual, weight break puts it close to upper limit of BF/S. Each one could move down one class with a little weight added.
I'm thinking the 2004 SXT would be a better choice because of it's lower index. Yes, no, maybe, maybe not???

This Mopar went 150 MPH for 4 hours using NO fuel. A Neon would have blown to Texas. Pole shed 0, Laura 1...... Lemon Phish

Unless a real Neon guy will chime in here, my advice would be to buy the book.
The 04 SXT in D would probably be the better car but the R/T would be more challenging and more fun. I don't know how the 5 speed transaxle will hold up. Maybe Yak has some experience with them?

The 5-speed will take more abuse for sure as opposed to the automatic. Remember all the SRT cars were 5-speeds...they handled a fair amount of abuse even with upgraded engines. Half shafts were the only issues I've ever heard of from people who were racing them. I don't think you would have any half shaft issues with an NA stocker.

Any advice on what Neon to run in Stock Eliminator? I’m close to pulling the trigger on a 2003 R/T, 5-speed. Just need the weather to get a little better. Thanks.

Tim,
Do you still own your race car and if so when was the last time it was out and it's performance?
Billy's edict was spot on.

We do still have our SS/GS Neon. My son drove it this past season and has been as fast as 12.30@113.

I’ll have to look at the factors for the different years and platforms to see what would be the best option.

Tim,
Please post photos for us MOPAR guys to be proud of your little torque monster.
I was the Service Manager of Stamford Dodge in 1990 and remember road testing a '90 Dodge Daytona Shelby and on the hit the torque steer and acceleration were impressive and at that time I was racing my A/SA Max Wedge car that ran pretty well back in those days.

New Mopar project is started. Got it home this morning. Will be DF/S at 19.85 factor. 2003 Neon R/T, 122" 4cylinder, 150 HP, 5-speed manual.Engine & trans are good. Front K-frame is broken, rusted through on the passenger side. Body is ok but has some rust in the rear quarter, not to bad. I'll start a build thread soon with details if anyone is interested.

Possible good alternative to a Neon..BF/S sounds close to turn key with a track history!
