Bobby you are doing an awesome job and service for us S/SS guys. Keep up the great work!!!

Re: Driver Interviews
The interview was very good. I listened to it with a lot of interest. I believe Bobby is a GREAT promoter of stock and super/stock racing. Being a racer himself, Bobby understands what questions to ask and how to make his interviews interesting. Thank you for all you do to promote stock and s/s racing.

Knowing how John hates losing a heads-up more than anything. The next Pomona isn't that far away. Have to say Darcy's car sure does turn the earth when he leaves. Great race to watch!

It's the last week to relax, if that's your thing. I don't seem to have time for it. We are still pondering the new AHFS rules, a few minor changes, and arguments pertaining to performance. I have a new idea for promoting our classes on social media. RIP Woody Pagano.

Did you know Darcy's Super Stock '64 Savoy was the first one available to the public? It's still being racing! Where else would you see something like this? Are you listening/watching NHRA? Enjoy #thecarshow

Did you know Chuck Stubeck was a Hollywood police officer for 37 years? Awesome 440 6-pack car looks great and turns out nice times. Chuck does something we've all done.. watch what happens.

Great interview Bobby. Answered all my questions about the car. What a stand up guy Chuck is. Met Johnny Cash - -very cool.

Re: Driver Interviews
Bobby…Another Fine Interview. Chuck's car is one my favourite Super Stockers. I had the pleasure of meeting Chuck Stubeck at Fellow Super Stock Racer the late Jim Isherwood's Memorial Service. Chuck made the journey from California to Mission B.C. to Honour our Friend. Jim spoke highly of you and your car.

Re: Driver Interviews
Why revisit the blinder rule because people suck. Your words not mine Bobby, in your pod cast today.
I guess blinder guys like Jeff Taylor, Brad Zaskowski, and Greg Standfield just suck (according to you). Once again, your words not mine. Here is a crazy idea maybe NHRA could focus on the Tech side of the sport a little more than someone's personal driving style. I mean where does this stop? When a sanctioning body like NHRA is telling people how they can or can’t drive a race car that they OWN that might be a problem. I don't care if you count the bulbs as the tree comes down or stare at the bottom blub or God forbid blind out the top two bulbs on the tree. Do whatever works for you. I have yet to hear an example from NHRA or anyone about an accident in the pits that was caused from someone not being able to see because of a blinder. Other then when Romero ran over Mark Nowicki in fall Vegas staging lanes in 2007. And that's was a helmet blocking issue not a blinder issue. I would think if NHRA was really truly concerned about racers safety they would institute a rule for top end excessive breaking. I mean there are 4-6 S/SS accidents per season due to this and yet nothing is said about this every year. So what is it NHRA, is it a Safety issue or a personal agenda. This blinder BS all stems from one cry baby racer with some NHRA pull that has been crying to NHRA Brass about Greg Stanfield killing the tree every round this past season because he has a killer set up with a blinder. Its not a safety issue, it’s a racer that doesn’t blind crying. That is all nothing more. |

Re: Driver Interviews
Someone commented live and said there were lots of red lights/bad lights this weekend due to no blockers so now the "safety rule" is being revisited. That's comical and makes for good material. People sucking without blockers is cause for revisiting a rule that was so hell-bent on safety last week. Yep my words. Don't let my apathy toward blockers be confused with opposition toward them. Anyone who watches my show knows I don't care who has them. A common sense approach makes more sense than a ban and that is probably what is coming next.
Now onto your words...who said anything about those drivers not being good? Go listen again, about 3.5 million more times, and click on all the commercials. It starts right about here. As for your 2nd-4th points.. I literally touch on this stuff on a weekly basis. Maybe I'll tackle excessive braking next week. Keep watching. Quote:

Re: Driver Interviews
Good job Bobby you edited your pod cast from earlier. Very smart, but if your not guilty then why edit the video?
But lucky someone copied it before you edited it. You know the part where you are ripping on people that use a blinder. If anyone wants to see the unedited version just get ahold of me I will share it. |

Dude that's not edited. Watch the whole thing. It's on Facebook and YouTube. But I'd rather you watch (3.5 million times) on YouTube and click on the commercials. Is it possible to edit a live video?

Re: Driver Interviews
Hey Bob, first hope your done with your move. We are on our 4th month with renovations that were to be done at the beginning of January.
I like most class racers listen to your pod casts. I think it's great that you want to promote our classes. As you and all of us have said we are the greatest traveling car show on the planet. But if you are waiting for anyone from NHRA to promote our classes you are going to have a long wait. As Rush used to say with half my brain tied behind my back I could do a better job. So knowing they aren't going to do it why don't we. Years ago for the Maple Grove Nationals they would tec us Sportsman racers at a mall about 5 miles away from the track. It was early and we would be off to the side and only bring our cars out enough so the officials could take a look at them. Then off to the track we would go. With the half the Malls dying I would think you could find one that would let us do a car show on a Wednesday night before a race or a lot big enough. Make a list of everyone that is willing to participate. Grab up to 50 cars. And put on a car show. Find the local popular radio station. Depending on if they will broadcast from the site or just have a couple of their popular DJ's there with a tent and their vehicle with the radio's logo on it. Will change the price. I have done this on a small scale and it works. I didn't do the live broadcast but I did get the DJ's with an easy up tent and a van with their logo. For several days before that night of the show they would advertise that they were going to be there and for everyone to come and join them. It really wasn't that expensive and worked real well. They gave away some prizes and in this case I'm sure you could get the track to throw in some passes. I would include most all of the classes. Kids love Dragsters. Chuck Krepela had brought his Super Comp car to my shows a few times and it was a hit. I've done this at least 50 times. It's not that hard to do. And with great success. Not to put this all on you if you want help I would be more than happy to. The mall will probably want us to get liability insurance for the night. I have had to a couple of times also not a big deal and again not that expensive. BP |
Re: Driver Interviews
Thanks Bobby your interview with the Champ was very informative. Thanks again for the help.

Re: Driver Interviews
Hi Barry, this is a great idea and I have mentioned something similar to Kyle Koretsky and Shane Sweigart the new gm at Maple Grove about teaming up with the Morgantown Classic Auto Mall which is right at turnpike exit! I think that could be a perfect spot but what do you guys think? Dj, prizes, etc shouldn't be that difficult and like you said, if Maple Grove were to reward those who would take the time to bring their cars there, that would be even better. NHRA has taken a few steps with Joe Costello doing the "Designated" segment and "Attention in the Pits" and given me some stage time at the last two PRI shows so I commend them but we must definitely keep fighting our own fight as well.

Re: Driver Interviews
Bobby, I think the Classic Car Mall would be a great location for such a show. As you said, right off the freeway, plenty of parking, and with over 600 antique, muscle cars, and collectibles, inside the mall, plenty to see. I stopped by the mall on the way to the Philly airport for my flight home, from Maple Grove, and the place blew my socks off!

Re: Driver Interviews
Was there a Tuesday tell all yesterday? Was trying to watch live but it never popped up and I don’t see the replay posted. I look forward to it every week is why I’m asking. Not complaining. I know Bobby is in the process of moving.
