The Dodge Hellcats are listed in the NHRA guide. The factory transmission had a transmission brake as Stock. Would it pass tech?

Is it legal to run an internal electronic solenoid shifted valve body in a car like mine that only had a computer controlled TCC from the factory?

Or is it only legal to run an internal electronic solenoid shifted valve body in a car that came with an internal electronic solenoid shifted valve body?

Dean, Not really a gray area.
According to the braintrust in Glendora, anything that has a computer i.e. EFI can use internal solenoids.
That would be 3rd gen Camaros with EFI. But what about feedback Q-jets? They have and electric enrichment system and a TPS..Gotta be a computer hiding somewhere there.
But hey..What about a 78 Caddy Seville? Yup ..EFI .78 Coupe Deville 425? Nope.
Almost forgot the 57 300 D Hemi EFI? Yup
You see where this is going? No research or forethought .
The rule should 95 and newer 4l60E , which had solenoids and is programmable with HP Tuners, etc . The Camaros, Vettes etc. came that way.
Yes , you can retrofit a 200 trans, but this is about as close to what should be legal.

Do your cars have automatic 1-2 shift capability?

No. If you are driving one of my cars you are pushing a shift leaver.

I don't run a two step to stage/launch either.

I probably will not put one in my car. Kinda like the ability to adjust ET a little by varying 2-3 shift.

Lot of opposition, including myself....... so who is actually for this change?

How did this get on the rulemakers radar, and why is it already in the rule book one year ahead of time.

Wouldn't these people be happier in super pro on Saturday nights?

Against, run SS if you want an air shifter

IMHO, I don't think that any shifter like that belongs in Stock.

They're good with this, yet they will not allow you to relocate the battery fron the engine compartment to the trunk? WTF!

Re: New shifter rule poll

I vote no . Change for the sake of change is ridiculous. What's next drive by wire so the ECU can ramp in the throttle and timing so you never spin the tires . Or it's now all 1/8 mile for the sake of safety. Remember the muffler dust up that change didn't last long .

Drive-by-wire is already a thing....

While many are avoiding the real concern , drive by wire has already been around for years ,so why focus on how the the car shifted now ,for many years all of the electronics should have been stopped in stock eliminator.

What differences are there between using a air shifter or not using one ?

Not shifting with your hand / shifting with your hand.

So like you blow on it instead of moving it with a arm movement?

Well if you can blow that hard go for it.

That's a big NO for me in Stock Eliminator

Re: New shifter rule poll

What a time we live in where how you shift your automatic transmission becomes such an emotional trigger.

Seems simple run a stick if you want to shift every gear yourself. Run automatic if you want the option to do it either way. I could care less on how my opponent does it. Blocking, shifting or stripe takers still won?t help racers who struggle. I?d prefer every one of my opponents have an air bottle. It?s one more thing that can go wrong with there run. Stripe takers will lose more runs then they will help with. Blocking is a great tool but you better be able to switch back when it gets dark. I understand the purity aspect of Stock Eliminator but her virginity was lost when we started allowing aftermarket components. I?m not the brightest bulb but I?m pretty sure edlebrock heads never came from the factory. Same could be said for Caltracs, afco shocks. Now that I pissed off everyone here let?s just realize there is nothing stock about what we do now and join together and support any group that tries to give us a place to compete. Instead of hassling and bitching about every detail.

Re: New shifter rule poll

So you start out with an automatic transmission, then you turn it into a manual transmission. Now you want an automatic shifter, why not just turn it back to an automatic, shifting problems are solved. You don't need to move that lever to change gears anylonger.
