That's about as sleepy as one of these things can get. At least until you start them.
Steve Atwell owned these 2 LO23 Darts. The "sleepy" one with the white wheels is an auto, the other is a stick. Atwell actually drove the stick car in one of those "Laps of America" I believe is the name,, where you drive a bunch of miles in a day, then next day thrash the cars on a dragstrip, then do it the next day, same thing. I think it's held over a weeks time period??? Hot Rod magazine sponsored. Someone can correct me on the name of the event & specifics.

Steve still owns the stick Dart, but sold the auto a few years back. Unaware of current owner.

Steve Atwell participated in the 2005 Hot Rod Magazine Drag Week. The kick off drag race occurred in Kansas City and the finals were held at Martin, MI 5 days later. Drivers must drag race each day and then drive off to another track with no towing assistance. After 5 drag racing events in 5 days, an average ET and MPH is tallied in order to establish class winners. Steve competed in the Naturally Aspirated Big Block category with and average ET of 11.017 and MPH of 122.594. He even swapped out a couple of failed lifters in the elephant motor along the way!

GREAT picture.

Gas station parking lot. Hasn't everyone done a repair there at some point?

This is called getting in there with it!

I quess Steve didn't know you can R&R lifters out of a Hemi only pulling the valve cover, between intake ports. Just takes a little messin' around with a magnet & couple long screw drivers, but muchos easier than pulling the intake. ;)
