I know some will say it has always been done this way but it still sucked that certain teams had all the right high performance parts while other teams were trying to do the best they could do with what they had.

The other thing I never realized that back in the 60's many of the match races were fixed!!!!!!!!!

I had always wondered about this and if it went on but after reading some posts on another forum by drivers who matched raced for a living it appears that it was true.

Promoters told you in advance that if you wanted future bookings with them this is the way it works.

I still enjoyed watching all those match races for years.

Fixed match races? I never thought about that but now that you're saying it, I can easily see that happening. Especially so if one of the racers is local. Fans would want to see their hometown favorite take down one of the out of town "big guns."

I agree,, Charlie,, my all time favorite magazine. I was sad when it all ended back in '99. Fortunately, I've got every issue, from the beginning in Nov. '64 to the final one. They're still a great reference for me from time to time.

Super Stock Drag Illustrated

Would Love to see Super Stock Drag Illustrated back again.

There are a huge number and variety of Stockers and Super Stockers running today.
You still all the cars from the 50's forward still running.
The variety is huge with new Pure Stockers, Crate Motor, Trucks.
Especially since they moved modified Production into the SS Ranks.

The interest would double automatically if all the Classification Guides were updated on the America cars and Imports were allowed to compete.

All those stories and the technologies just plain human variety of combinations.

It would be a hit publication today.

Not only is Arnie still going , he's going very fast , at the age of 82.
Saw him go in the low sevens at around 180 mph at MIR just
about 3 weeks ago.he ran match race with Warbuck and took 2 out of 3. The man is something else for a senior citizen.

I was fortunate enough to be introduced to Arnie Beswick and "Dyno Don" Nicholson back in the 90's down at Scribner, NE. They were match racing Arnie's Pontiac and Dyno's 62 409 Bel Air.

Talk about history! Both very cordial gentlemen.
