Bill Bagshaw’s “Red Light Bandit” Dart is one of the original 1968 Hurst built cars that he raced in S/S in ‘68-’69, and Pro Stock in early 1970. The car was then sold to Jim & Walt Marshall in California, who raced the car in M/P. DeFrank & Cohen then raced it in S/S. It probably was the first ’68 super Stocker that they campaigned. Donny Chapman did some resto work on the car, and it is now owned by Gene Mosbek.

I read this on the web...so DeFrank & Cohen owned the 'Red Light Bandit' at one time and that was probably the 68 Hemi Dart in the advertisement a few pages back.

I had a chance to buy this L023 when Donnie Chapman still owned it...and it looks like the front marker lights are still in place on the DeFrank & Cohen ex-Red Light Bandit car.

Anyone have pics of '68 HEMI Darts that later received '70 and later rear 1/4 panels for then contemporary Pro Stock competition? This may help identify some of the fleet that's still unaccounted for.

There's another thread about that very topic elsewhere in the Nostalgia forums...take a look for it, there's some good info in there.

You are correct, the AHRA had Super Stock Eliminator and the NHRA had X Super Stock which eventually became the Pro Stock classes...this would account for the engine and body modifications on these cars in late '69 season.

Thanx for the question. Funny you would bring this up, cause I just asked Mark J. the same question.. The below list is of missing, unconfirmed LO cars, both stick & autos, just to start with. There are more.
This thread has definately helped to narrow it down, even tho it hasn't flushed out the Ace yet.

Bob Banning --Auto
Joe Patele --Auto
Mary Ann Foss --Auto
Cookie Duster Dart ---- Stick ??????
Jonnie River----- ?????
Gator Raider Dart------ ??????
Dallas Hemi------ ???????
Manhatten Speed Shop----- Stick???????

It's definately not the original stick car
Don't believe it's the original auto
Doesn't have any Landy designation. To place Dick's name on a car you were required to get written authorization from him to do so. If you didn't have one of his cars, sorry, no luck. A fake 65 Coronet that was passed off as Dicks A/FX car back in the 80's brought on some major legalities before Dick would allow his name on a car.
Must be a tribute car.
Looks well done

There was rumor floating around Da Grove about 20 years ago that the the Widowmaker Dart, which was no longer associated with Jim Wick, had been destroyed in a shop fire and that the badly deformed remains had been crushed in a Milwaukee area salvage yard. I did not witness any of this but I definitely recall the story.

The WidowMaker was a partnership with Jim Wick and Jim Jezwinski of Fond Du Lac and Oshkosh, Wisconsin respectively. In that picture the MatchMaker Coronet of Jim Wick is driven by Tim Mayhew and Jim Jezwinski was in the Dart. Last we heard the Dart is in Illinois and was not for sale. We inquired about it years ago.
