Not a bad day of testing for one CJ. It ran under the record first time out.

Ed,
These cars may show up at Las Vegas next weekend.

David,
If I understand correctly what you are saying is that with the up or down one class from your natural class would they be legal all the way down to 7.0#/hp or is it completely open ended once you get to AA? My experience is with lower class cars so this is an unknown to me. I thought there have been a few cars produced over the years that could not fit into stock due to their P/W ratio? If its down to 7.0 they would have to get hit with something around 38hp before they could not run stock not the 7 hp I previously stated.

Bruce---Record? Did you offer to help take a head off ? Bring a crane........kinda makes the old CJ's look easy to work on .What class were they in? At what weight ? What track ? ........whole lotta stirrin' the pot ain't it ?

Re: Factory experimental

Bill, It would be Open-ended but you would get to the point of adding so much weight that it would create a problem being ridiculously heavy and issues of how the ballast would be legally added.

Ed , I obviously don't have a dog in this race but I saw you asked Jack about an underated AMC. How about the 69 AMX 390/340 that just happens to be at 407 now ?

David thanks for clearing that up I did not realize AA was completely open ended. Makes it a bit different than the lower class cars. My old combo got 36hp in 18 months and moved it a from a natural M/SA to a natural I/SA and I could no longer run my favorite class K/SA by just adding weight I assumed AA would work the same. But they just get to keep adding weight. To stay at the 7.5
It will be interesting to see what these cars weigh and what the AA index is in a few years.
To Jack; I would agree with you. The guys who have these cars right now won’t be quite so enthusiastic when they have to pull an intake/blower and head off of one of those motors. It will definitely be an all-nighter in the teardown barn. Not very familiar with the Ford stuff but aren’t they DOHC or SOHC motors?

You're right Dave. But NHRA bumped them immediately up to 420 after they were running mid 11s.407
now with the advances in technology seems very charitable(I bet Aris and Hemi would like to see that shaved off a bit).Thanx Dave. How's the recovery coming along?

Ed , How ironic that you are post # 401 !!! Can't get much more AMC than that !!! Anyway, I am doing very well and the recovery is well ahead of schedule. Thanks for asking.

Dave
