Re: Sportsman Council
Jeff,
It is probably better to ask your council member if he is the right person for the task. |
Re: Sportsman Council
Bill,
I don't disagree with your point, but in times when many racers are thinking about whether they can afford to go to a race on not with all the fuel and other expenses.. I-cards are not high on the list.. We need to remember that it should be good for the majority of racers and not just a few.. There are many more important things to help racers today than an I-card, again nothing against Crew Cheif Pro who sell them.. With all the things we should be discussing to help racers who can't afford to buy fuel and attend races, we are talking about an I-card.. Maybe NHRA could get a fixed price on racing fuel for sportsmen racers at National events, one or two day divisional races, lowering entry fees, more round monies, find better insurance deals, inforce the current rules, many more small things can be done to help.... Bill, I think the Bristol race is a good example of whats coming, less than 50% in Stock.. Thats what we should be thinking about, not I- cards.. Hey maybe I am wrong and racers care more about having and I-card than going to the races... just the way it is... Dave, |
Re: Sportsman Council
Dave makes a good point. There are many things that NHRA could do to reduce the cost of racing without costing themselves anything.
For example, we tried a late entry into St Louis, but they changed their "procedure" from last year on trying to enter. It seems you only have 1 hour after all the withdrawals on Monday night to enter the race, then the drop down menu disappears. Not even an act of congress can over-ride that drop down menu closure. Stacy asked if the bureaucracy was more important than his "cash money smack down on the barrel head" in this down turned economy. She laughed, said "no", but he still wasn't getting in. Don't drill for oil, refuse nuclear power, then complain about gas prices and global warming. Somehow it all seems illogical, but similarly consistent. |
Re: Sportsman Council
I still like my idea of 1/2 points meet classes and run twice at one event and be off the next and the other 1/2 classes run twice at the next meet. Pay for two race entries at one week end.
It gives the tracks the same meets It gives NHRA double entries from 1/2 cars at each meet=same income. It gives racers a way to race twice for one gas bill. |
Re: Sportsman Council
Dave,
I reviewed my post, and do not see any reference to the I-card. The disallowing of any previously accepted part, or equipment is a very slippery slope, and where it stops is anybody's guess. I do not think we should revoke the acceptance of any previously accepted aftermarket part. Stop changing the rules. That is my only point. The continual changing of rules is a major factor (minus fuel costs) in driving up the cost of racing. This is what fuels the vicious circle of keeping up with the fictitious Jones. It is what also killed IHRA Top Stock. |
