Dang Chip, i leave to go to Sheetz to get dinner (sorry work is so bad thats all i can afford lol, great chili dogs tho) and you beat me to the punch. Sandy's car is a great T/S car, and he is the one who wrecked at Pittsburgh, and i know Dickie with his S/R car was all over the brakes tring to get it stopped at Pitts also. Back when they first started having that race, Rick Golliday and myself both went out 4th round of the bracket race saturday night and after waiting in line for 45 minutes to get our $15.00 checks we finally got back to the hotel around 2 am. To me they need to go hang out with Royce for about a month and then see how to run an event. But thats just my .02. I just dont like the place i guess.

D,
I like the track. Give them credit they ran 3 events in 3 days last year with rain coming. I think they did an outstanding job. I also plan on going back in 2009. I just think the place is a bit short for 1/4 mile racing.

Pittsburgh is definitely too short to be running 1/4 mile. In 2003 I almost put our S/R car in the sane up there with some assistance of the bumps past the stripe in the left lane. We were only running 155 mph, and I will say it was not a fun place to get stopped.

What about Grand Bend?

Last years event seemed to go well with reasonable car counts for a first year event. (As good as some of the regular Pro-Ams).Attendance considering the race was late in the season when most guys already had committed to divisions and points races.

There are lots of sportsman cars up here and lots in neighbouring states to support a race here. At least give us a fair shot.

Seems this would be a good alternative since loosing Milan. And there sure is no problem running 1/4 mile there. Good track prep and lots of space to park, good people. I've travelled enough in my time to know there are lots of way worse places.

And the border crossing is no big deal!!

Chip,
Any of the S/R - Q/R cars that are running over a 150 should be using the chutes anyway!

Chris K,
You don't get it. Get out of your slow ***** stocker and drive something with some MPH then try to stop it.

I don't personally love everything that they have done, but I do appreciate the effort that they have put into the sportsman classes. So I think people shouldn't be so hard on them when they are trying, they could say the heck with it and just let it die a slow death. It is not there fault that tracks decide not to host races anymore. As for Pittsburgh I like the track and I rather race 1/4 mile but that track is definetly too short for the faster classes. I have seen some wild things down at the bottom end wiyh cars trying to get stopped. If you have looked at where you would end up if you ran off the end, it ain't pretty. They did the right thing before someone got hurt or worst.

Limiting Pittsburgh to 1/8 mile is a must. It a testiment to the drivers in the quicker catagories that there hasn't been more accidents. Not real sure what the heck happened to the Div 3 schedule. I live in what used to be the heart to D3 and most likely will run D5 next season. Just don't make sense to me, but I suppose some things may be out of IHRAs control. The event at Grand Bend last season was probably one of the worst attended races in 08. There were 13 cars in HR. In my opinion the track prep sucked and there was definately something wrong with the timing system. I spoke to a couple regulars (both former Summit Super Series world champs) and they confirmed the timing system issue. If you don't believe me go to the archives on drag race central and look at the reaction times, they were very inconsistent. I havn't heard great things about Thompson either, but, I heard the same about Osceola and I think that place it great.
