Re: AA/SA Sorensen @ Woodburn

I would like to start by getting a couple things out in the open. 1. Yes I am close friends with Joe and Hal. 2. Yes Hal builds and maintains my engines. With that being said I have been asked by both Joe and Hal to respond to these allegations as they have limited internet access over the weekend and quite frankly don't like to waste their time arguing on the internet.

In response to "fredjohnston" and Tom Dolan Joe took the following steps this afternoon at the Woodburn division 6 race today. After the tear down was complete the engine was sealed by a tech official, along with the motor mount bolts and the carburetor, it is sealed as a complete unit. At this same time the tech official took digital pictures of the engine being sealed. So "fredjohnston" and Tom Dolan this is the time you can really prove your point! Joe has made arrangements with national tech officials to inspect any and all components in the engine that you see fit on Thursday of the Seattle National. The fee will be $2500.00 cash or certified check. So like I said this is the time you truly have to put up or shut up! If you are a men of your words please contact me directly by P.M. or email and we will make arrangements. If you can not back up what you boasted about earlier I understand, some time your mouth writes checks your *** can't cash! I await your quick response so travel arrangements can be made for an early Thursday tear down party. At this point we will consider this matter complete until your response has been received.

Thank you,

Why the $2,500.00?

I read it. The question is still the same. If all is good why do the dollars matter?

It seems awful fast to me but it was torn down and declared legal....and that my friends is that!

It doesn't matter if they are cheating, it doesn't matter if the officals are crooked, and it doesn't matter what you think.....under the current NHRA system it's legal and the record stands.......period!

Stop the bitchin'!

I would also like to point out that ALL the tech guys I have encountered in divisions 3, 6, and 7 work their butts off. They are knowledgeable and have the utmost integrity.
It’s incredible you insult people like Dave Schaffel and crew from Division 6 and the Division 7 tech crew the way you do with your baseless accusations.
they are no ones pupets.

Bill,
I'm not sure where some of the comments on this subject are coming from but they have moved from usual internet banter to something close to slander.
I have less experience that most people here in Stock but here are a couple things I have experienced. We nudged the record in G/S in 2005 when it was sitting at a minimum. Dave Shaffel and crew went through the car and engine with a fine tooth comb. We were not fast but Dave checked EVERYTHING by the book. Being my first time through a teardown he spent a lot of time explaining the process. It was smoking hot that weekend but there were no shortcuts taken. We saw the charactor of the D6 tech department from first hand experience.
Second, we parked beside the Sorensen's at Mission a couple years ago. One thing I observed first hand was these two guys spent a lot of time WORKING on their car and not much time wandering around looking at other peoples stuff. They seemed to be very serious about making their car run fast.
Everyone is entitled to an opinion but I like to keep it fact based.

Mr. Gaynor, the sealing of this motor at the D-6 race means absolutely nothing. I, like everyone else, can buy the sealer at any store and re-seal the motor. Put down a fast number at a National Event and take it completely apart the same day--immediately after the run. Do that and we've got a deal.

Sooooo, you're not gonna take them up on their offer?

Looks to me like you've been owned.

Would this be described as 'spirited debate'?
