Didn't Don Studley and Al Etter run a 62 station wagon with the 383 two four
barrel carbs in E/SA back in the day out here on the west coast?

Mid 70's, from Amarillo, Gary Doose had the "Supply Wagon" D/SA '62 Plymouth wagon
with the 383/343 horse engine. Then put in a Max Wedge for a few races to run in B/SA.
A great runnin' wagon.

As memory serves: the 383/343 engine was a paper option only in 62 and produced through the help of Clay Smith Eng. in Buena Park Calif. The dual 4 option for the B engine appeared first in 1958 350 CI (Golden Commando) and continued for a number of years. It was a very mild Hyd. Lifter and had 1.60 ex. valves. The special solid lifter cam was designed and built by Clay Smith Eng. exclusively for the 343 HP and was about 284/484. It also spec'd. a 300J Head with closed chambers and 1.75 ex. valve. Shawn Langdon's grandpa George Stiegel who put the project together still runs Clay Smith Eng. I purchased a 62 Dodge Wagon F/SA with a vinyl roof covering about a ton of lead called the Orange Crate from a man named Pat Foley(sic), I " think" I stripped and took it to the dump in mid 70's. Now that the horsepower is lowered.....I wish I had left it in the darn back barn!

The car pictured on page one of this thread has "B/SA" on the windows, not "D/SA" (it's easier to decipher the rear window than the front window.).
D/SA would be a 383/343 option, B/SA would be the 413 as Travis noted previously.
I've long thought the 383/343 would be a great Superstock engine. Since it's an inline 2x4 intake a Weiand tunnel ram would do the trick pretty cheaply. Fit it under a '68 Hemi Dart / Barracuda scoop in the GT class (and I've not seen a conclusive answer on the body parts for a GT car yet).

But your post #21 didn't clarify what class the car is running in, just the engine. By the tone of the posts that preceded and followed your post, I sense confusion by some over what class it is in with the continued reference to the 383/343 engine.

If you wanted to run a 383/343 combo in a SS/AH car in GT, can you run the hood scoop?
