I thought I read that at division races in the past racers had been torn down for going more than the old 1.40 under. Or did I just dream that.

It would seem that if a car violating the limit was not torn down and proved legal, you could have grounds for action against getting mandatory horsepower if you ran the same combination.

Then the run is no good & nobody's combo gets hit and driver is D Q'd at that event and must be torn down at next race and pass. The next toss would be a longer suspension. No refunds . Ladder would be as if this driver never existed.

How is it done in IHRA?

1.40 under gets you hp with the old indexes which we still have. Unfortunatly it is no diff than NHRA ,no tear down ,just weight and fuel. Had this happen to me at Rockingham one year and i got hp and was behind at least 2or 3 tenths. I wish it would change. If not at least seal the motor and tear down at the next race before hp is given. Needs to be verified ASAP in my opinion.Only tear downs we have done is if a record is set. If the racer is trying to set record we usually tear down before the race and seal engine ,carb ect.... This gives the racer enough time to tune the car back and not miss eliminations at that meet.

Before IHRA hands out HP do they take weather into account?

It seems to suck that someone across the country's rating could be hurt by someone who may not be "kosher"

But in several conversations with Tech their opinions were that well over half of the "UnKosher" items are not intentional and rather accidents. (I do NOT know if they were talking about motor or just across the board)

But cheaters (and I know a large percentage of improper items are NOT a result of intent but rather accidental) How are those dealt with , only certain items get a DQ and a suspension ?

Is it only a suspension if it was blatant ? Or anything at all ?

If you get tossed for something "blatant" they may give you a vacation. If it is a slight measuring error or a mistake. They usually tell you to show up at your next race with the car apart to verify that you are now legal before you make a run.
When they tossed me at Maple Grove. For having too little compression, they told me to come back with the head off. I told them "no way" I had driven the car there, and it took me way to long to tear a head off then put it together to make a run.
I sent them a nasty letter explaining the stupidity of there rule.
They then changed the rule LOL
So I went back to racing.

Danny
I have to fess up I was trying to set you up
Look at what the Ihra did last year at Epping it was a joke to add HP to who they did
It was the best weather I had seen in 12 years of racing
I understand IHRA wants to look legit in sportsmen racing but how that race was done last year was awful
In many ways...

Mark, what's the difference between getting hit in killer air at Atco for going -1.40 and getting hit in killer air at Epping for going -1.40?

I hope so, because Im having a hell of a time "measuring" these head gaskets in layers like you told me to :)

.037 out of the hole and supposed to be AD......#$%^&* and I cant just use a nice 6.1 .039 and be done (on the 5.7) because the water is different.....#$%^&, Head is the same mind you block and gaskets are different...

Although at this point a year vacation may not be a bad idea, Puerto Rico and some sailing is looking better and better.....

Hey they race in PR....never seen so many rotaries.....
