so pardon my ignorance, but are you saying that it's now a natural D car, as in it's already been factored out of F?

Here is a shot of the NHRA Weight/HP sticker from Jeg's car.
Looks like the Mopar "Low Carb" diet resulted in a 1000 lb weight loss.
First we had Michelob Ultra, now we have Mopar Ultra.
Lite that is...

I would think that Mother Mopar is in no hurry to have the new production cars in the NHRA classification guide.....Looks to me like a smart way to market the DP's and sell the production look a likes to the on the street crowd. They are also making sure the DP's get in the hands of capable racers. One dealer told me all the hoops he had to jump through to get # 6 2011... or was it 2010.. Can't remember... From what I've been told (if it's correct info) there are only a hand full of qualified dealers you can get DP parts from.
These guys are doing some smart marketing and the racers are buying into it as well as the public. Cool looking cars!

While I'd have to agree with you, in principle, that Chrysler is doing a great job selling the DP program, I have to wonder whether that success benefits anyone but Chrysler and the chosen few who are allowed to own the DP cars. Joe and Jane Public, who might like to race a "look a like" Challenger, can't because the only vehicle in the Classification Guide is a program car unavailable to the "general public". Their car looks cool sitting in the parking lot, but can't be raced in Stock Class because no one thought to certify it! Oversight? Maybe so - I've never agreed with the certification process anyway. If the manufacturer built more than 500 of them and sold them to the general public, I should be able to race it in Stock eliminator. Why doesn't that happen? It sure would open up a lot of different combination's.

Just my opinion!

Assuming they can get down to that weight:

555 Horsepower = 10.17 @ 131 MPH - Not a bad D car.

Take it to Atco in the Spring and the car could run 10.00's.

Yep they can.....get to that weight, with about 8 hrs work I can get back down to that. Almost to the lb actually weve got it to 2990 wet, minus driver.

No one is in a hurry to get it in the class guide at that weight.

I AM :) The street SRT8 can make 11 easy with cam and headers at its full weight. AND there is over 600+ lbs of sound deadner and carpet, and safety equip in it. Heater etc....

When its in the guides , well the "Orange Peel" is already running in the 12's bone stock, with only a tune. Not 1 crack to the motor.

Scrap the IRS, and some others.....what would a 4100lb car be competitve at 11's ? High 10's ?

Hey Jerry you wanna build me a motor for that :D:eek::D

Re: It's Official...HP on Monday (actually Tuesday)

Drooze,

If the SRT8 is rated anywhere near the factory number, it will not be competitive. It would probably fit B-C (just guessing) If you divide Shipping weight/ Hp Rating that gives you the class it would fall in. So if you take the factory shipping weight divided by the factory rated HP, that would tell you which class it would fall in. Unless, Dodge would "fudge" the numbers a lot!
