The Acadian is coming along, I should be firing it up in a week or so. Man I tell you I sure am missing racing ,poorly run event or not... Thanx to Toby for allowing us that aren't able to attend these races for a glimpse of the action.

Toby,

As always, great video's. We all really enjoy them. Thanks for taking the time to take, edit, and post them. I know that takes a lot of time. These ones are obviously extra special for me. Thanks again.

You're welcome, Dave. Congratulations on the big win! Glad I could help document it for you. Now it's Herman's turn to get in the winner's circle. :)

I wish I had video of my first class win in Ashcroft back in 1997. I don't have any video, but I do have a few pictures.

Here's a shot of the final round against Bill Heard Jr. It was a heavy affair:

The winner's circle. I was driving Jerry Mulkey's tuna boat:

After the photo session I gave a few friends a ride back to the pits.

Left to right: Derrick Johnstone, Herman Chan, Ron MacKenzie and "Dually" Dave Kirk.

Here's mom, along with Dean Kaufman, after successfully crew chiefing another son to a class win:

Your opinion is well put,,, whoever you are. Most of us DO identify ourselves on here. Theres a few officials, around here, that certainly have less than stellar people skills,, actually, the main one I had in mind was very nice to me when I hopped in the NHRA trailer at Boise earlier this year, I was shocked. As for our current division director, I wasn't around to witness what happened this weekend, but from what limited time I've spent around him, its a big step up from where we were before him. I think hes still growing into the job and there again, that's just one guys opinion.

:rolleyes: People skills is probably the biggest need "IF" you are going to be in charge of a race situation. From what I have heard the race was lacking direction and communication. I have seen the D.D. tell people to stay in the pits until called and then when they show up tell them to hurry up and go. Doesn't sound organized to me, but I wouldn't want the job. The idea of double header races sounds like an economical idea that should work very well. Two races, one event, limited traveling needed. Sounds like a great plan that can be expanded on in the future.

Side note: Great pictures Toby, especially of your mom, still miss her.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one. It's called finding another new way to give away a round.

Ya Toby, Herman is definatly overdue, I know he will get there. BTW, I believe they still use the same safety truck in the background of your winners circle shot up in Ashcroft! Great pictures! Thanks again.

Yeah Jim, it looked like Jim Johnston was in the same boat as you in S/S.
I guess when Ryan Warter left before you did was a bit of a shock!

Hey Toby,

Great pics of Ashcroft! I had forgotten about that, but the memories came back quick...

Maybe one day the other old Mulkey "Q" will find the winner's circle, just need to find the driver to get over the "yips"....

Hope all is well!

Cheers!
