Re: Random question stock eliminator
James, it was actually a friend that was involved in that round, it's really not a huge deal, my whole point was just wearing the safety gear. But for most of you not knowing the whole situation, I'm pretty most of you would have felt the same. Time to move on...

Re: Random question stock eliminator
I surely agree everyone, especially Mickey should be wearing above and beyond what is required. I also believe that it is highly possible for someone to forget to put their jacket on in the heat of moment trying to get ready for a run at a national event. I find it hard to believe that NHRA staff would let it go if it had been detected, so I for one would like to know the whole situation to decide for myself.

Re: Random question stock eliminator
Throughout the years, I have have seen it all from racers that are not serious about safety. Seen people that do not tighten up their harness and/or helmet because its uncomfortable. Some believe that fire jackets and pants are overrated for Stock and Super Stock. I have even seen a few driving dragsters that after they go through the lights after winning their round, lift their arm with a fist, meaning, their arms were not strapped.
With the advent of the factory race cars that exceed 150+ miles, even a slower class car driver should have all the protection he can afford in the event of a collision with another car. Jim has a great point and shows how lenient NHRA must be getting with racers. I think they put more emphasis making sure a people have a restricted pass than checking the racers in the staging lanes. |
