Did I miss something? I think the extra $10 they charged us at the beginning of the 2016 season more then covers the insurance increase.

What was the $10 increase at the start of the season for?

The Pros do pay. The pay pit space fees, for one. Ask a Pro team about all the charges. Just because they aren't paying an "entry fee" doesn't mean they're not being charged to race.

Reality:
You'll get very few S/SS racers to make a steady diet of big buck races because to really be competitive you need as much electronics as there is in the space shuttle. Maybe the Super categories racers could make the move easier.
Just a thought.

I just wonder if this was a knee jerk reaction by NHRA because a Super Class racers wife just creamed a vintage 69 Camaro Superstocker at the Vegas fall race last year ? She was driving a golf cart when the ACCIDENT occurred....Seriously, how many pit vehicle accidents are there ??

LOL! Really? There are TONS of Footbrake and No-Box big money races, all over the place, so electronics is no excuse. They just don't *want* to, that's all. Shoot, it's tough to get many S/SS racers to even run S/SS races if they're not an NHRA Nat'l or Div'l event.

Every once in a while, I'll Footbrake in the Box class, too, and in my experience, none of the electronics makes them much tougher (if at all). The thing that makes the Box class tough is the speed, consistency, and quality of the cars in competition.

We all like racing a lot or we wouldn't even be on here, but I think the main reason a S/SS guy wouldn't want to attend foot brake and bracket races very often--no matter how good the payout is-- is that he doesn't want to put extra wear and tear on the expensive, specific, and likely very hard-to-find parts and pieces that allow him to be competitive in S/SS in the first place. It would almost require a second dedicated car to be used for bracket racing only. Otherwise, you'd be a real busy guy doing constant maintenance.
If you had a zipper on the Stocker engine bay and could slide a mildly modified SBC and plain jane Turbo 350 in and out of your easy-to-work-on '68 Camaro in the span of a couple hours every Tuesday night when you wanted to go run a big-money bracket race for the weekend, yeah, they'd be more apt to do it. But they don't.

Ok, this is from the none racers point of view.. So obviously i could be wrong.. But, IMO you guys have the power to make the change. Dont support NHRA. There are so many races like Mike Beards events.. Work as a group to effect change. I dont know if any of you are familiar with the Demoulas battle that happened here in the Northeast a few years ago. The customers said i have had enough. And started going elsewhere and it made a huge change in what happened with the stores. You guys as racers protest by staying away. You all know that they rely on your money to pay the bills. And when they start getting hit in the wallet, much like all you are. Things could just change. And dont say you dont want to support things such as the Northern Class Nationals.. Because if you did Mike would be planning his next one..

What happened while I was away??????????????

About 10 years ago NHRA required all pit vehicles to carry insurance.....

I called my agent and added my golf cart to my home owners policy.....

The cost was $35.00 for the year to add my golf cart to my home owners policy that gave me coverage for $1,000,000......

Why not allow racers that have coverage to be exempt????????

Because the money grubbing A******S won't be able to cook the books and steal........

Is this a great organization?????????????

They don't wear a mask and carry a gun when they rob us......

Just my thoughts,
Bob

Maybe next will be their insurance to cover your tow rig

The last time I recall a pit vehicle / race car accident was when an intoxicated NHRA official on a pit bike crashed into the side of a race car. In that particular instance, NHRA did not pay. Maybe now that they have insurance, they will pay???
