Milan, Mich. could also be a possibility.

I agree Dave, MG has used that date for years and by scheduling the SportsNationals on that date , Bowling Green and Jay Hullinger spit in the eye of not only the D1 and D2 racers who need to run the Maple Grove race ,but a whole bunch of our D3 friends who have come to the Grove for the Points race for years.
It would not concern me as much if it wasn't a National Points event.
JEGS should take notice.

Sorry Tom , but Bowling Green and Jay H. didnt spit in anyone's eye....Since the first Sportsnats in the 70's and the sportsnational opens that followed ,they were all contested on Memorial Day weekend. You have a choice..National event vs. divisional meet, National event purse vs. divisional purse.....

Unfortunately, its the same schedule as last year for the sportsnational over the holiday. We will have to pick and choose. Since the sportsnationals will have class, and in theory class cash winnings like Indy, they might as well make it a HP free event like indy is now. That might help people with their planning.

I realize the Original SportsNationals were on that date ,but I was referring more to the recent revival of it by Jegs which was in September and afforded a lot of us another chance at National Points.

Jeg's did not "revive" that race, nor was it run in September. Jeg's simply began to sponsor it, for which we are extremely grateful. The race itself has been held on that date, continually, for a long time, and it was healthy enough to take a lot of cars from Atlanta at times.

Sorry, but Jay, Division 3, and Bowling Green did not spit in anyone's eye. That race has been a Memorial Day weekend tradition for years.

Hey Ken......you're forgetting the US Nationals is on Labor Day weekend. Plus you traditionally have E-town the weekend after.

The Jegs Northern Sports Nationals was contested in Columbus for several years in September. That race only returned to Bowling Green last year.

Well, here's the deal, Bowling Green has hosted a sports national race for around 40 years (hosted the first ever sports national, if memory serves correct), most often, especially for the last couple of decades, on Memorial Day. Last year, and again, we are very grateful for it, Jeg's decided to sponsor the well established Memorial Day SportsNational race at Bowling Green, that had been held at that track, on that date, for a long time.

So, no, with all due respect, Division 3 and Jay Hullinger did not spit in anyone's eye, nor did they move the race. Jeg's merely decided to sponsor an already very well established race, the original sports national, that had always been held on that date, at that track.

Is it sad that it conflicts with a race at Maple Grove? Sure. However, that is no reason to accuse Jay, Division 3, Jeg's, or anyone else of "spitting in anyone's eye", nor is it a reason for the Bowling Green race to move to another date.

I understand how you feel, but again, with all due respect, I'm going to have to strongly disagree with your position.
