Re: What Works and What Doesn't
Working on the Drag Pack that has a S 60 Dana housing. Is it neat or what, it has screw adjusters to set the back lash and carrier bearing preload . No more spreading the case and adjusting the carrier with shim packs.
What doesn't work is calling the tech line and receiving incorrect information. I did some further looking on their web sight and found the correct procedure to set preload. I'm real happy I double checked, it saved me a bad day at the races, money for parts, and a lot of work. Its a good product, I think. |
Re: What Works and What Doesn't
I'm all for clean and shiny cars ,but over the Winter a lot of racers forget about one of the most important things ,other than a win light , Brakes !
Take some time to inspect the hoses. ... if they are more than five years old replace them ,they are cheap insurance. Flush out the old brake fluid and replace it with quality racing brake fluid like Wilwood's 570 Plus ,or other high quality DOT 4 fluid. Brake fluid is hygroscopic ,it absorbs moisture and over time becomes corrosive to your steel and aluminum brake components . We all want to keep the shiny side up ! |
Re: What Works and What Doesn't
I always had issues with rear end seepage after a few months of racing . The bolts, even though they are self locking with Loctite always pounded out the gasket and leaked .. This gasket ends all that. It's a steel shim with reusable gasket material on both sides... and their cheap ..

Re: What Works and What Doesn't
Never wasted my time with a gasket on a 9". A tube of Ultra Black RTV and self locking nuts on the studs works for me. I used copper washers under the nuts.

Don't work: Spools with .002 run-out on the pilot for ring gear, and .003 run-out on ring gear flange. Impossible for me to get .008 to .010 backlash and good contact area. A new one is on its way.
