Re: Stacking for Vegas

Last fall, on stacking day, I met up with Team Tom at about 6:45 am. We went down the street about a quarter mile and made a loop thru the industrial park, and sat there waiting, while we were able to see the pit entrance. Of course ,we were going to wait until 1 minute of, and then ease down towards the gate.
At about 6 minutes of, a whole group of racers emerged from the truck stop road, which is directly across from the gate. They had blocked the main road completely, and also the traffic coming down off the exit ramp! Somebody decided to let them in, so we proceeded northbound on the main road, and formed a line on it, not wanting to be pushed back any farther in the numbering sequence. I think we ended up about 30-40 something.
Anyway, first of all everybody knows exactly what time it is from their cell phones.
If I were running things, those guys who blocked the road early, would be rewarded with a warning, and a 100 number card.
Secondly ..It just shows what a sad and sorry thing this early stacking thing has become....in my (firsthand) opinion, of course.

This has happened at every race so far , this does not have to happened .there is a safe ,orderly way to stack at every track but for some reason The Decision makers do not want early, reasonable, orderly and safe stacking for their customers before the race ,this is my point in my posts.

Has the idea ever been entertained of pre-assigning pit spaces? I think the NHRA has pit layout maps of all the tracks. Assign everyone a spot when you sign up for the event. No lines, no waiting. Go to YOUR pit spot. Would that be feasible?

Too easy. Too simple. Makes too much sense. Couldn't possibly work!

I'd say not,Bob.

The situation has to remain fluid, in MY opinion.

Example 1 , I enter, and am assigned one of the shorter spots for my 48' rig.
I then withdraw at the last minute. My replacement has a stacker, being towed by a full apartment house, @ the max legal length... Now what?

No. 2, Johnny and his son both have pickups and open trailers, so they are assigned side by side ,shorter spots. John Jr. has to withdraw at the last minute. What do we do with that spot now?

No. 3, It rains for three days preceding the Nats. (Columbus) .Some of the previously assigned spaces are now unusable .

Next case....

My humble opinion, show up when you can and don`t get butt hurt if the line going in changes and isn`t to your liking. This happens every weekend. You can win from ANY pit spot at the track!

This post or blog has nothing, zero, interest or concerns or subject matter about who does or does not go rounds when a racer is in the pits .The post is about common sense for any racer before they get into the pits,No one is whining The subject is pre race stacking
