The last Pontiac engine was manufactured for the 1980 model year and that's 40 years ago, before the NHRA lost its mind.
If the thought process was the same 40 years ago, you would have seen 35 pound and not 55 pound Pontiac cranks. It makes no sense to me that NHRA looked at the SBC Callies crankshaft and said "Looks OK, just like it came out of a 1967 Chevy" I have no problem with the racers that went through the process to get it approved. All they wanted was performance. NHRA has ruined Stock & Super Stock. Now they ask for our input to save their bacon I just can't wait to see what the NHRA will screw up next, based on what they have done to the Pro's.. Just sayin' |
