Re: prayers for dan dvorak

When these boards first got their start I used to post quite a bit and Dan and I often saw things from the opposite perspective. I don't think either of us had a very favorable impression of the other. I met him at Indy in 2001. His first comment, after introducting himself to me, was "I thought you'd be a fat, ugly thing"! I took that as a compliment that he didn't say I was! LOL Anyway, his passion for drag racing can't be mistaken and I've heard many instances of how he came to the aid of a fellow racer. Hope your recovery is quick and full, Dan.

Dan, my family will pray for your family. As always when a racer needed help Dan was there. He would do what ever it took to help other racers out.

May God be with you during your healing process.

Dan,
My uncle and I were transporting a car to Florida a couple of years ago and we stopped by your shop, just hearing so much about you we just wanted to stop and say hi. We stopped and your wife said you were in the house not feeling well but she was happy to show us around the shop and we even got a few shirts. Anyway we both wish you the best and the next time either of us are around your shop we will stop just to say hello. Get well and you are in our thoughts!

Re: prayers for dan dvorak

I had a e-mail from a Gainesville area racer forwarded to me that he recieved from Mark Wilson. Mark said that he visited Dan the day after his surgery and he was in good spirits and expected to bounce back from this.

If it isn't against the forum rules I could copy the e-mail and post it here for you all.

Let me know.

Re: prayers for dan dvorak

I looked over the forum rules and didn't see anything suggesting that this wouldn't be allowed....so here goes.

Hello all,
Some of you know, some not. FYI
News flash/update: Dan Dvorak has been hospitalized. Seems he's been battling an infection in his right foot for some time. It was decided that it must be removed. Thursday 11/8, his leg was amputated below the knee. I made a long overdue visit to him in Alachua General Hospital (Shands at AGH) Friday 11/9. His spirits are very good, given the circumstances. He said "Let everyone know that I'm OK and I'm going to bounce back from this. This is not going to get me down."
Meanwhile, back at the shop, Larry James is running things and Dan is being consulted by phone as needed.
Dan was somewhat surprised to see me. However, he mentioned that he was curious weather I would come see him. It has been several years since we had seen each other.
Love him or loath him....... I wouldn't wish that experience on anyone.
He may welcome visits or phone calls...... or not? You know Dan.....
Shands at AGH phone: 352 372 4321 room 4311.

Best wishes to all,
Mark Wilson
