Re: IHRA going back to class racing
That is interesting, on Hot Rod's Drag Week my son never commented on stopping at Norwalk but felt he had to get on the brakes pretty hard at National Trail. Is National Trail downhill? His car is heavy (3,500lbs) and runs 10.40s now probably a little slower at the time. Four wheel disk brakes.

Also I looked at it myself and it looks like Norwalk is about 100' longer than Columbus |
Re: IHRA going back to class racing
It is always perceived that way. Yes, NTR is downhill mostly and then goes up hill at the turnoff and Norwalk is mostly flat until the very end, then it actually drops. It is deceiving for sure... I watched Tony Schumacher's 336.15 mph record run in 2005 and he had to be pushed off the track because he didn't make it up the hill at the end.
1/4 mile cone to sand = 1990' NTR 1/4 mile cone to sand = 2010' Norwalk 1/4 mile cone to sand = 1570' Kil Kare (that one will get your attention if you're running 1/4) Jeff Quote:

Re: IHRA going back to class racing
Looks like Darlington is going to NHRA. I figured that would be one of the places where they would of had a Nitrojam.

Re: IHRA going back to class racing
Well, the numbers are the numbers, and I can only assume your source for those numbers is accurate. But boy do I feel like I have to brake quite a bit more at national trails than I do at Norwalk. Don?t get me wrong, I love both tracks. But trails sure ? feels? like a shorter shutdown. Likely just gravity interfering.
Off topic, but the whole track is downhill at Cecil. One of the reasons you see such quick runs there. If you sit on the right side stands and look at the track compared to the left side stands (which I can only assume are installed level) it?s incredibly apparent. Kp |
Re: IHRA going back to class racing
Now the IHRA has changed hands.
