I had a red 64 SS Nova with that exact drive train. (327/365 4 speed, 373 gear) |
Re: Musclecars That Should Have Been Made
I once owned a 1968 Plymouth Fury III Fast Top, so I would love one with the same build specs as the '68 Hemi Dart & Cuda Super Stock package.
Or, since my '89 Olds 88 Royale sedan came from the factory with the 3.8L Buick V6 in it, it should be easy to swap in a complete T-Type or Grand National turbo setup. |

Re: Musclecars That Should Have Been Made
And now, for something completely different...
The Mopar factory had a few prototype turbocharged slant six motors. They never did anything (production-wise) with them. I have an acquaintence who has a 1966 Valiant with a turbocharged slant six that makes a little over 500 horsepower with the 2-valve, cast iron head, and one 4-bbl Holley carb. It is all-steel and weighs a little over 2,800 pounds. It runs in the tens at 127 mph in the quarter-mile, on gasoline. That's with a power-robbing 727 and 2.76:1 final drive gearing. If a "backyard mechanic" can get this kind of output from a hairdryer-equipped, leaning tower of power, just think what the factory could have done... 1969 Torino Talladega with the BOSS 429 instead of the Mustang getting the BOSS 429 I have never understood or known the reasoning behind this...

Re: Musclecars That Should Have Been Made
Don't know if it's already been posted, but for me it a 1967 Mustang with a 427 SOHC.
Also would have been cool to see a fox body mustang with a 351W option or, even better, a fuel injected 460.... |
Re: Musclecars That Should Have Been Made
Smart car with a Mercedes Benz V-12
Citroen CV2 with a 426 Hemi Fiat 500 526 Hemi for Factory Showdown class. I'm sure Mr Teuton can influance Mother Mopar to slip that one in at 375 HP. Pretty much anybody can slip in a Randall American 401 gremlin. There was no way to actually document them. They were low 12 sec cars out of the dealership (for $2,995). |
