While there is some downtime -- walking to the scales this morning I realized there was a new edition -- "Scales Maximus" is what I would call this out building - every track should do this -- neat deal for sure .............
Just for your info its now close to 3pm Saturday and S/Comp has yet to make a pass of any kind - maybe we shouldn't complain about our stuff ......................Could it be the NHRA has found a new class to dump on . |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Attn D1 Stocker Drivers racing at the Toyos!!
Put a "stocker" CJ or DP on the trailer at the Toyo Nats and win a free six pack of your favotite beer. Six pack will be delivered at the Dutch. PM the name of your favorite beer and the CJ/DP opponent who you took out and you are in. See you at the Dutch!!! The Brew Meister |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
I can vouch for that. Jimmy promised and came through with a 6-pack of Yvengling at E-Town.
Thanks Jim! |

Just for a moment forget we're in a recession , never mind 10% unemployment , don't talk about what President Obama is doing wrong...............maybe i'm nuts but a whole group of other people thought that way when they got up this morning because this reporter can't remember the last time he's seen this place this full - this isn't Sunday / race day - its still qualifing ......what or who will tomorrow bring ? ?
The Stauffer family hit this one out of the park.........and the Pro fans are getting their money's worth .Kudo's also to Lex Dudas and his crackerjack staff . |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Jack, as usual your reporting is Top Notch.
But your pictures of 1st round of stock didn't hardly show anyone in the stands on the other side, i guess it was tooo early for people to get up & watch stock elim. The other thing i was curious about: Why did the spectators have to pay for parking??? $10. & that was inside Maple Grove's lot not on the outside at someone's house. I never recalled paying for parking here or anywhere else for that matter. Oh well, keep up the good reporting. Pistol Pete |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Jack is right..... this place is packed!
I have never seen this many fans on a non-sunday! Yesterday was almost as packed.... I'm sure this will be a record breaking weekend for MG. Also... the $10 parking was along side the track (on spectator side), the track did offer free parking to the right and left of the track. |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
I went up Friday morning, got there about 9, parked in the field on the pit side, behind the staging lanes maybe 50 yards from the gate. Cost me $10. Look up on that hill. How many thousands of cars do you think are there? x 3 days!

Good morning - Those still in today are living the dream - the big show in front of the crowds - all the hard work you did on your racer could payoff this afternoon when you end up with the Wally in the winners circle .If only .....well , you know the rest . Round three will be a whole new deal - new weather - freshly prepared track - and about a zillion other factors - just like rd1 but different . In Stock 22 still have a chance and only 17 remain in S/S with only Bo Butner having a entry in both . At least the night racing is over as the tree must have been tough seeing last evening as 15 in Stock went red - ouch ! !
Speaking of weather - there was frost on the pumpkin last night for sure as the temp dipped to the high thirties last night but will return to the high 70's this afternoon with again plenty of Sun . Stay tuned .......................Almost forgot -- Can't tell you who till later but a long time New England Stock racer has been picked for "Best Appearing Car " - long over due but he'll like the Wally and pics for sure .......too bad his wife skipped this race . Kenny sent me a picture of the schedule, a little tough to read but I think everyone will figure it out. Racing starts at 9:15 |

We'll its great to have Internet service again - yesterday afternoon it went right into the dumper - Kenny tells me it has to do with Bandwidth and the Pro's using too much - all Greek to me . Anyway i've got a million pictures and i'll try to get some up today in between work .
Like many of you , I too was rooting for our own sentimental favorite - Ed Fernandez and his little "Giant Killer" Gremlin T/SA ...........way to go Ed . |
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Sorry to Highjack the thread but what year is that Gremlin? I see a big gap in the years AMC have in the Stock Guide.. is it a 1979?
(Sorry I looked it up and it's a 1977) |

You guys are tough - I know you don't care much for touring pro's but Bo Butner's win yesterday in Stock was no cake walk - this was his first National event since purchasing this car from Private Ryans' dad - his worst light was .039 during elims and with the help of some dead ons and great finish line driving he earned the Wally .Give it up - credit is due ................And no , I don't know the man .
|
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Congrats to Bo - great way to debut a new car - MGR is not an easy place to race at especially at night & especially for someone who doesn't race there regualrly. Great job.
|
Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
Congrats to Bo. I thought that car looked familiar, but it has a few more decals than when I saw it last. He got a bad *** car, should do well.

Re: "Live From" the NHRA Toyo Tires Nationals.
I'd like to thank the NHRA crew especially Redman, who I met for the first time this weekend, for the job they did to make the race go off as smoothly as possible given the
hardships presented to them. |
