Also, I talked to Chris Padgitt at Comp, and they're gonna put a small sponsorship for it soon. Also, I think I will eventually get an article in Drag Illustrated once the rules come out. At least I was promised that when Wyatt Halden was involved, and I still think they would do it.

Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Leal B/MP Duster back in bare metal. The missing core support and front inner fenders have
been replaced. Extraneous roll cage pieces have been removed and the beat up front half of the floor and the firewall have been replaced. The cut up spare tire well was replaced also. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psst0ejmul.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pserkciagm.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps8fagf8un.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psiyaspio6.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psuuxdwe7i.jpg |

Metalwork done, the California Flash B/MP '75 Duster is now in epoxy primer and finesse bodywork will ensue.

Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
They haven't came up with any rules yet. They have some wanting to just bring whatever and runnit heads up. It won't work, and eventually they will come to their senses. Will keep you informed.

Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
One reason the California Flash B/MP 1975 Duster is so special to us is that this was our car in 1975.
It was a roller cammed 383 4-speed with a 5.57 Dana 60 and a leaf-link suspension. That Leal car was on the cover of the Direct Connection catalog the entire time of our build. Sure wish I had better pictures. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psabba587f.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psitj81d2i.jpg |

Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Perseverance Pays Off
Finally found all of the wheels and tires we needed. N.O.S. front Cragar Super Tricks and some very nice rears. Also located and purchased brand new never mounted 14 x 32 Firestone Drag 500 slicks with the liners and the stickers still on them. Have new Moroso DS-2's for the front. During the search and not to take a chance on missing anything, also purchased some 98% front Tricks (pictured with tire mounted) and some 90% 15 x 14 rears. These, along with the original wheels from the car (that had been polished) will be available if anyone has the need (send a PM). http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pshpktpzos.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psh8havajg.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...sf6jbrhzr.jpeg |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
WOW!
Love those wheels :D |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Well, more problems getting this thing rolling. The "brand new never mounted 14 x 32 Firestone Drag 500 slicks with the liners and the stickers still on them" showed up. Yes, they are brand new and beautiful but are not "Drag 500's" which is not a deal breaker but they are W's which we had specifically been told they were not. Two inches too wide for what we have to have. If anybody has a use for them, let me know.
In the meantime I am still looking for regular 14 x 32 (non W) Firestone Drag 500 slicks. I could also use the newer non Drag 500 blackwall versions. The newer the better. Any help finding a pair will be much appreciated! |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Thanks for sharing the pics..........looking good.
I always liked the Duster / Demon better than the Challenger / Cuda's. |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Flash UPDATE:
Motor under construction at Steve Atwell's. Since we aren't racing and won't likely be P&G'd on the show field we opted for an aluminum headed 572 (it will all be painted). Other details held close to the vest at this time but suffice it to say that it will look and sound the part. |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Does anyone have a color picture of a 75+ Leal 16-plug Hemi that shows the color of the spark plug wires?
The only pictures I have (from the Peterson archives) are B+W. I didn't ask if anyone remembers what color they were because, well, you know...... http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps2xcjm30s.jpg |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Last pics (as far as I know) for final test fitting of dummy motor, trans, headers and clutch linkage
before disassembly for finish painting. Everything fits great with proper clearances; clutch linkage works like butter. http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psljoygqhy.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pskqsca8wx.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psriol3ekz.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psoqqfcv0n.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps8o8ykxf6.jpg http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...psdxq22qo0.jpg |

Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
Thanks Charlie. I've got that picture but that is a different car.
His '73 Pro Stock Duster. Mine is the '75 B/MP Duster (picture below). http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...pslxv0pbe0.jpg I did just buy a set of doors off of the tribute car for the '73 Pro Stocker (for wall hangers). http://i3.photobucket.com/albums/y93...ps2pc7pbhh.jpg |
Re: Modified Eliminator Wars in the 70's
As heavily researched as I know your car is. I was guessing you had that picture already. Most of what I found from that era , and I am sure you have also, either had red or gray wires.
