Re: G/SA Current Record
You wouldnt like one of those heads up runs if you were on the wrong end of one but if thats just part of the game to you guys enjoy. I personally know there are people who qualify 《 strategically》 to. Avoid those guys on the ladder . Why is that when yall just consider that to be part of life. Geerhead95 you ever spent a half a week at a track and two grand only to lose to one of these guys in the 3rd or 4th round? and if you did did you just say oh well I'll get them next Time? Have fun and once a f in gain I am gene schmaltz jr. For you real name freaks

Re: G/SA Current Record
I can't remember the racer who went by the name " Buck Naked"? Wasn't he involved with yellow bullet also.... I do believe this thread has run it course.
Signing off, Jose Danger. |

I agree joe
Merry Christmas to yall. Gene Schmaltz jr. |
Re: G/SA Current Record
!0.60's in G/SA, Maybe a newer mustang but I doubt a 30-40 yr old car unless it is a mineshaft with 15mph tailwind . The 350/255 guys lost up to 5 hp with that oil pan they had to remove so that makes it a tougher on that combo. But as they say, Time will tell! Bring your A game to Atco my friends and we'll see who is bad.

Re: G/SA Current Record
Looks like this thread has gotten way off track, what's the ole saying! You can't fix stupid!!!!!
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
Not all 255's lost that pan. Read the approved list.
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
Rod 5 hp for the pan REALLY!! Tilburg changed it and didn't see any difference. So if the other guys lost 5 it's just going to put them another 5 behind.
Jim STUPID ? The thread was asking about the g record and as far I as know that's what we are talking about. It's December and a little bench racing is always fun. Barry |

Re: G/SA Current Record
I don't think so Mr. Barry! We are trying to find some horsepower so it will be fast!

Re: G/SA Current Record
Barry,
My post said UP to 5 hp. It all depends on what legal pan you end up using. And the dyno doesn't have to deal with excelleration either. If it wasn't worth power why did all of Brian's customers have one? Jim Jr. Going by Bowling Green and Indy this year I didn't see anyone that fast to run those numbers, but you guys stayed home, and I know your fast but not how fast. Back out to the garage to work on my stuff. rod |
Re: G/SA Current Record
Ed, it has nothing to with logic, it is the reality of life. My car is in same same boat as yours and I don't plan on changing it any time soon. We all race our cars for different reasons. Some because they are emotionally attached to it, others because it's all they can afford and others because they want the latest-greatest.
But you have to accept that in racing, if you don't keep up you will be left behind. I just don't feel that everyone has a right to be competitive just because you made a previous investment in your car. Jim, you don't need $100,000 to race or win in Stock. But basically every HP rating is bogus. Do you think a 440 Mopar rated just over 400 makes that number, no it makes about 600-plus. Same for my small-block Ford, so what does it matter? No one would ever build a new car if the hp rating wasn't favorable. Evan |
Re: G/SA Current Record
Evan, the plus is not needed now. I am hoping it will be needed in 2014
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
OK back to the subject, my money is on Jim Storms setting the record early in the season
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
If he wants it Chuck will have it...
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
You're correct, Chuck has one of the older cars that, in the right conditions, will go 10.60's .... But Chuck is a way smarter racer than that. He's spent thousands and years on his combo and will continue to protect his investment from AHFS....... Now maybe at an open with the right conditions, but NEVER at a ace that he'd get wacked.

Re: G/SA Current Record
Hmmm. 6340 vs. 3340, low comp. vs. High comp., Barracuda vs. Barracuda, 340 vs 340, East vs. West , now that would be a good one.

Re: G/SA Current Record
Pretty big "might be" Darrell. Look at the speed. I understand the weather kinda sucked at Indy........... We're talking good (Atco) conditions, ( and probably gear ratio changes ). Chuck has already gone 10.79 (in 2009). 75# heavy for G. Not tuned up. Point being - his car will go 10.60s in the right conditions, ( If he wants it to.) So the question still stands - Who's gonna be the "MAN".

Anyways,a car with a 455 engine only rated at 306 horsepower has to have a lot of potential. |

Re: G/SA Current Record
Darrell, you're probably right... But, if I'm in the finals for class at Indy, racing a car that has me covered... I'm going to tune the BIT*H up, take a shot at the tree, and if it's not red when I go by it, my right foots gonna be as close to the front bumber as I can get it until he passes me or I miss the first turn off. But that's just me. ...Back to the post - we're not talking about a race....we're talking about setting the G/SA National record. - Bring your A game Boys!

Re: G/SA Current Record
There are some extremely fast G/SA cars in the country but if Mark Lelchook can fit his car in G/SA it'll be the fastest pre 2008 car out there. I'm not taking anything away from anyone else but I've ran against Mark and the car flat out flies!
Chuck and I were .005 or .015 apart at the 1000' on the run you mentioned. My car doesn't pull that hard on the top end so he could have ran faster than me. Nonetheless it was a great race at Indy and makes everyone realize you cannot take any 340 for granted!!! |
Re: G/SA Current Record
This thead is awesome.Lets try and make it more interesting.
Why don't we G/SA racers get together at ATCO and put a nice $100.00 bill each up! Fastest car to go thru teardown gets the $$$! This might encourage some guys to travel to ATCO .I m in and cant run with these boys.Or a little Jr Stock.. We could get Jack or Ken hold the $ and award it.Thats the way real $ racers race.. What do ya think? |
Re: G/SA Current Record
Perrone that would be great. I would love to go, but 2600 miles round trip would be around 370 gallons of diesel or ~$1340. So, you would need 14 G cars for us to break even, IF we are the fastest (plenty fast G cars out there).

Re: G/SA Current Record

In order to win the purse the fastest car should have to pull the pan to weigh the piston and rod and check ring grooves. If you can make that happen I'll put up Ron Infantino's $100. Also don't forget the Atco Open is in May. While last year was mineshaft, two years ago it was 86 degrees. |
Re: G/SA Current Record
Just noted that the Atco NO race is the same weekend as the Class Nationals. Knew it was up against the D2 Atlanta Double Divisional but it would make it tough to draw the top G (along with F and H cars that can fit G) cars anywhere and claim it as deciding anything. Personally, think there will be more G cars at Columbus vs. Atco or Atlanta.
|
Re: G/SA Current Record
Jim I agree with you. I didn't realize that the races were the same weekend. I have no problem putting up the 100 unless Dave will for me. ( I couldn't resist Dave) But the guys who feel that they don't have a chance might not. I think if its 50 bucks you may get more people to do it. Who knew G/SA would be so interesting. Barry

Re: G/SA Current Record
Ok sorry about the folks with the long drive. But this has to be done at an OPEN race so everyone is safe.David I agree but if a record is set the fast guy should get paid.
Who cars about May or april.only condition I want IS NO FACTORED RECORD. Got to be a real track..Piston and rod lets talk..Also D-1 D2 D3 have plenty of G/SA players..Jimmy Countypuppy would love to have you and your DAD,,Its nothing but fun with Country Dog around! |
Re: G/SA Current Record
Just a suggestion .... Gainesville, Turkey Trot National Open, Dec 2014.... All year to plan for it. ....National event Track.... National Open....65 degrees...Bar 30.00+ ...Sea level or - less....low pressure off east coast ...10 - 15 mph west wind ....... After the regular season..........( all winter to fix 'em. ) ...Stand back jack ! ... Who's your Daddy.
