I'm shocked at this news. I looked at this thread earlier today, and everything was the same, and now this. I was hoping for different news. My thoughts go out to Dave's family and friends.
He was such a nice guy to lose too early.

RIP Dave you were a great racer and friend met him numerous times loved our sport even gave me a tour of his shop and SS car always was big in the Buckeye S/SS races always was very fun and friendly to talk to prayers go out to Dede and the rest of the Layer family Godspeed !

I spoke to Dave briefly at the U.S. Nationals; and now 2 months later, he is gone. My wife and I have the family in our prayers.

I just got home from Dave's memorial service. It was really sad, but was also amazing to see friends from all over. Hundreds of people. I have never been to a funeral or memorial service with that many people. Dave was indeed loved by many. Not many dry eyes.

Dave was a friend and mentor for over 20 years. He taught me allot about cylinder heads and the science of going faster. He will be greatly missed. R.I.P. Dave

Dede & Lindsey Layer have asked me to send a special thank you to everyone that showed up for Dave's celebration of life. There were hundreds of people, you would of thought it was the line up going into the US Nationals for sure. It was really neat seeing so many people and racers there to show their respect. They also want to let people know that could not show up to keep Dave in their thoughts as the family understands. Special thanks to Joe Bohannon for the decals and shirts made.
