Does anyone know who the engine builder is for Randy Eakins? Is it Holbrook or someone else?

Joe Welch is conspicuous by his absence. I haven't seen or heard anything about him since he was DQ'd at Indy last year.

Wow, already a 7 second bump and poor Leah is the fastest Dodge at #19. Three spots out with an 8.00 that would have easily been #1 at any race last year.

He has a Holbrook engine, also working with the Tasca-N-Turk team and BES for power.

There were pictures on FB of his CJ (X-Holbrook car) @ Team Z being updated.

This class was already out of control (IMHEO), now this. Yeah it's the 1st race but they add weight to the Dodges and give the Fords a bigger blower and more stroke. Last year's front-line Chevys are now second fiddle. Now what?

Showdown cars in the lanes....

I have lots more photos to edit from Stock and Super Stock, but I just can't get back to the motorhome to get it done. I hope to get lots more posted after third round tomorrow morning. Super Street will be out first followed by Stock. It will be the same schedule as the last two days, one round and done for the the day.

I will try to post more later.

Anthony Bongiovanni's Stocker. Anthony had the car here and not racing it so Dan was a perfect choice. It can run Stock or Super Stock. Dan had only his Stocker here.

Believe they’re now having R4 after all Pro runs on Saturday. Lots of upsets...could the trend continue?

What's wrong with starting on Thursday if you lose right away you can get home and try to make back all the money you just wasted.

Good morning all, day 3 and the schedule has changed. We will start off with Super Street at 8:30 followed by Stock, Super Comp, Super Stock and Super Gas., but instead of just one round today there will be a another round after the pros are done with their final qualifier later today.

Weather will change today, with a high in the upper 60's and turn mostly cloudy. We could see some Factory Stock Showdown cars run in the 7.60's.

Sorry guys for the lack of reports on the finals, my sponsor and teammate Anthony Bogiovanni was still in so I went from reporter to crew.

David got out of the car and seem to be okay. From my vantage point next to the jersey wall about the 200 foot mark it looked like water mist coming out of the collector, not much he could do at that point. Chris was having his own issues pedaling hard to stay in the groove. Chris did a masterful job getting around David. It would have been an ugly site if they got mixed up.

I was able to get a few shots although they are blurry. I do have more photos to edit, but I will be heading home tomorrow morning. Check back in few days and I will post more photos from the Gators. Congrats to all the winners, and thank you NHRA for letting us run the finals today. The weather looks poor tomorrow, and sitting in the rain all day would not have been fun.

Wow Ken, those shots really show how close they came.
Looks like a short day tomorrow, or a really long one with few cars.

Good call by NHRA to finish the sportsmen yesterday. It looks like it's going to rain most of the day in Gainesville.

Shout out to Adam Strang for an outstanding week. Semis at Baby Gators, 4 rounds at Gators, and a class Wally to boot. It was nice seeing you and Tom at Babys. Congrats!

Yo Ken - Thanks for the pics and reporting!

Bob, you beat me to it! Good to see the only truly active Stocker from the State of Vermont going rounds in Florida! Good job, Adam.

Hey everyone, I'm back home and editing all the photos I did not have time to do at the track. These are Super Stock qualifying close ups. I have Stocker's in the lanes photos coming up in a bit, I just didn't have time to get all the Stocker's on the track.

Although I did not do well at the Gator's, I did have a good time. Weather for most of the time was warm, but it was a nice break from the northeast cold. Like I said in another post, the place was packed. The response from the fans on the Showdown cars was very good. When the announcers ask which brand they liked I could here the cheers all the way from my pit. I would say the 50th was a success, and running the sportsman on Saturday was a good move by NHRA, even though the rain held off on Sunday to get the show done.

The unfortunate wreck of Gary Wolkwitz COPO caused some controversy, and I hope all parties involved work it out. Safety with these cars are a big concern, 1400 plus hp and 3500 pounds could make for an ugly outcome.

On the red Skillman car they seem to be running a 12" rim with no beadlocks. The red and white one has, that's a lot of stretch on a 9" radial tire. gsa612

I would assume Dourlet's car has an aluminum front on it? I see it has a 64 hood on it.

Is that Luneack/Elliot/Kirby/Vanke's old car?

Yes, on the car history.

Does anyone know why Roy Hill didn't attempt to qualify his FS/XX car? He was on the entry list and had tested it earlier in the month.

When I first saw pictures of Dourlet's car I thought it might be the ex-Elliot/Luneack car. Remember reading an article about Bob Elliot back in 1985 or so, where he mentioned making a trip to Ohio to purchase an aluminum front end 63 Plymouth. Same car? Alex Cortezzo's white 63 also
has aluminum front end.
