Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Naah! It might be a good deal but it's "Old School" compared to a Neon.

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
SOOOOO, there once was a 2 door Neon, back in the day.. howza about another 4 cylinder Comp car.. tee time??.. or time for tea??
|
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Out of curiosity took a quick look and Neon's a getting harder to find up here in the Northeast. Either they want too much for it or it's just too far gone. What about some of the other 4cyl FWD models in the Mopar family from around that era? The Stratus, Cirrus, Sebring or Breeze? I did see in one of the older dime rocket posts someone mentioned using a 96 Dakota with the AMC 2.5L but the class guide is vague on that one. Says regular cabs must use M/T but it says that a SLT Plus can use an auto and they list it with a 112" wb which would be a short bed regular cab!

2004 Stratus uses bigger (2.4 2.5 ?) combo. I don't know how this engine compares to the 2.0. LOOONG stroke, 4-valve head, lots of compression. It might be a pretty good JYD. Probably DF/S car. WAY too heavy as an EF/S. Anybody else out there care to comment? |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
There was a little Mopar at a CIC race last week that took out about 3 million dollar's worth of race cars and support stuff on his way to the win. It was a 1986 charger EFS 135 17.45 index going 15.90s. Does that count. Tom

THAT being said, If you even THINK about cutting up that car, I will put you over my knee and spank the thought right out of your mind! And while I'm doing it, your Mom and Dad will be smiling down from Heaven! |

Cut, cut, cut, cut, cut, cut!!

What class does a 2005 SRT run?
|
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!

You can also present it (still as a 2004 SRT) in Super Stock in SS/H,I,J, manual or automatic... |

other than the basics, what would you say the first step should be? |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
As soon as one of us Mopar guys would build a Neon, we would get horsepower put on us, like Mopar combos always do.....;)

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
A friend of mine will be coming over with the Hemi Under Glass cuda

No fun if you can't pull wheelies. We learn that at an early age.

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
The '80s turbo 2.2 cars may be even simpler to catch the index.
As a project during Covid I found a clean '85 Chrysler Wagon with the 2.2 turbo. Some basic set up and improvements and we had a .60 under stocker that my 16 year old could drive to the track if wanted. The car was surprisingly consistent once we figured out the 60' .60 under for less then $7,000 CDN.....thats only $32.00 USD! |
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Not a Neon but it does get "cool factor" points for being a wagon!

The biggest problem I see with this entire post is that us Chevy and Ford guys forget that the millions and millions of mopars built throughout the years are extremely rare and we will burn in the pits of hell if we dare cut up such a fine machine..........lol

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
Didn't Tom Kish and Artie Leong both have that Neon?.

Artie sold his SS/GS Neon for cheap, was almost tempted myself.
|
Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
I knew Artie sold his.
When he had it we spent a lot of time brainstorming to get a little more out of it. I really enjoyed the talks with Artie. Hope he is enjoying retirement and his travel across the seas on the cruises. |

Re: So all of you Mopar guys!
I just checked cars.com, and the cheapest Neon within 500 miles was a $3995 2004 SXT 4-door automatic with what NHRA calls the 122/132.It would fit in BF/S-C/FS-DF/S. Now how much additional would it cost to get it running under the 14.65, 15.15 or 15.60 indexes?
