If you are referring to the white Buick Apollo midway down the page, that would be Bill Jenkins. Not the man we're used to calling "Grumpy"(r.i.p.)
another Bill Jenkins. An yes it is nice.
BTW: Does anyone know what happened to W.J. I read in this post earlier that he'd crashed his Camaro in the back to school race against Greg Anderson. Is he o.k.? Any details would be appreciated.
Thanks,
Walt

Did they not even run the factory stock showdown during the pro eliminations?

They did run first round during Pro eliminations but think they are so focused on keeping the live TV coverage going (they were broadcasting on the main FOX channel) that think they are risk averse to anything that could interfere. Seeing Falcone wreck his COPO (and saving Allen Johnson in the process) in first round I kind of understand their logic but they spool up so many interviews and segments to fill the dead time that it’s not very entertaining to watch unless you’re recording it so you can zip through it. Pleasantly surprised they showed as much Pro Stock as they did and Pro Mod was treated as second string just like FSS. Even with weather challenges I was surprised by the relatively empty stands. NHRA and NASCAR are lock step in figuring out how to keep driving away the fans.

Side note: kudos to Sterling for making a run and hated to see Cotten have problems after another great light and has anybody ever seen so many redlights? It apparently scared many because saw some very untypical late lights by some great racers.

Yes, WJ is OK. They interviewed him and did an autograph session the next day. I should've mentioned that in my post.

What happened to Mike Cotten? I must have missed it.

WJ is fine, he did a long burn out and the car got away from him.

They were supposed to do the rest of first round eliminations, but there was not enough time. It was a shame as the racing was good, lots of tight racing throughout the rounds. Hopefully DRC will have the numbers up later today.

Good morning everyone and we are still here. I have photos of Mondays action, but I want to hit the road so check back tomorrow as editing will take a while. We had a great heads up final in Stock and the FSS final was very cool with Bill Skillman doing a 300 foot plus power wheelstand for the win. I think I got the photos, its tough to get good ones at night.

My thoughts on how Indy 2019 went. Parking was a nightmare, and my appreciation and thanks goes to the parking crew. They were short handed and worked none stop to fix a mess that should have never been.
In my opinion they was no excuse for the way it was handled.

As far as tech went I will have to say that there were more cars looked at than I have seen it a long while. There were lots of tech officials on hand and I believe there was 12 Stockers torn down and 8 Super Stockers, with a total of 4 cars getting bounced. Checking carbs and throttle bodies for all class winners was a welcome surprise, it was hectic but they got it done.

As far a racing goes, well you forget about parking, tech and you say its cool to be at Indy. Visiting with old friends, meeting new ones. Its a crazy feeling Indy with lots of emotional swings. You want to be here, and its a long week, but with the parking fiasco and the rain delays you say to yourself, do I come back next year. Well the answer for me is.... Hell Ya!, I'll be back.

I don't get to respond to all your post, but I do read them. Without you guys and girls there would be no Class Racer, I appreciate all your support, more than you know. Its a unique community with a wide variety of a opinions, and we may not always get along, but I don't think I would want it any other way.

I'm ready to hit the road, so don't forget to check back tomorrow. My next live from will be from Maple Grove in two weeks.

Ken,
Thank you for all you do. You are better than the TV coverage.

Not sure, watching on NHRAtv and he obviously slowed early into the run. Perhaps he’ll post something because I was rooting for either him or Sterling to get the BIG GO Wally. The NHRAtv broadcasts had its up and downs but after plunking down my money for the first time for their broadcast I’d have to say it was worthwhile. Probably wouldn’t have done it if Warren wasn’t involved in the Wednesday/Thursday segments. Already looking forward to Norwalk, with all of the withdrawals it should be pretty fast paced. Would have gone myself (Norwalk on the bucket list) but evacuating (mandatory for us) this morning due to Dorian. You guys worry about earthquakes, we watch the weather channel August and September.
