Re: Original hemi dart information

Quick question to those of you with a title to your LO23 (or anybody else who may have the answer)-

Should the title read "LO23" or "L023" (as in L-zero-23)? My VIN tag looks more like a L-zero, but obviously people tend to call these cars "El-Oh-23" darts... and yes I've heard that Os were used instead of 0s because zero wasn't supposed to be part of a VIN in the olden days. But what should the TITLE read?? Thanks in advance for any help!

second digit is a letter in mopar vins back then eg RM23.

Re: Original hemi dart information

the second digit letter indicates price line in mopar vins.

Re: Original hemi dart information

Thanks for the input, gentlemen.

My understanding was/is that a VIN can NOT include the letters I, O, or Q because of their similarity to the numbers "1" and "0", so even though the official vehicle code and perhaps the fender tag (and title?) would be L-oh 23, the VIN tag should read L-zero 23.. Which would make sense, since the second character on my VIN tag looks more like a "zero" and the second character on my fender tag looks more like the letter "oh".

Does anybody know for sure? Does anybody here have a car with an ORIGINAL title? My state office is waiting for me to get back to them with an answer, so they know how to create my title. Thanks!

It's the letter 0, not the numeral zero.

Hey Clint.
Even tho it does physically look like a Zero the second digit on a Mopar from that era is always a letter designation. I agree with you it does look like a zero but it is not. First time Ive taken notice of that. The body numbers or shipping order numbers that are stamped both on the body and the fender tag are zeros, and look xactly like the "O" (oh) on the Vin plate on the dash

Heres a web page you can check out

http://www.allpar.com/mopar/vin-decoder.html

LO23 is 100% for sure EL-OH23
