I agree but the "average" spectator wouldnt come to watch without the track oilers. At least with a cut back to 50% nitro there wouldnt be so many engine explosions, oil downs, eaiser on parts, less $$$$ to run one for a season, and just MAYBE they might get 2 cars down the track side by side for a change without one of them blowing the tires off. Me....I could do without them also.

Let em run 100%, just take away 1 mag and limit the fuel pump and the rear gear. ....There is an interesting piece on Dragracingonline.com. .......Bret Kepner compiled a list of all the National event tracks with total length, sand trap length, and from the end of the sand to the next natural barrier. ......Its amazing how short some of them are. ......Tom

Re: Pros to race to 1000'
The NHRA has been aware of these problems for years , at Pacific Raceways, i have seen t/f and f/c both stop in the 2792 ft without the aid of chutes, but year after year they put the stupid little net up as if it would stop anything from hitting the berm on the motorcross track.
this problem has existed for all 24 years that they have run natl events here. every year they scramble around trying to make it work , but they have no preplanning in place till they get there . pacific has the road course option as well , but they park all the big rigs down there, so it would be worse to make the turn. |
