Original option sheet published by Yenko Chevrolet...funny thing is, aside from the "elaborate decals", the optional hood tach, and the emblems, everything else arrived on the cars from Chevrolet, and was straight regular production stuff...as a matter of fact, the 2 LT-1 Novas that went to Canada were equipped exactly the same as the Yenko Deuces, sans the stripes/emblems, and were sold through regular Chevrolet dealers north of the border...

And another letter, this time from Donna Mae Mims (manager of sYc, Inc.) to Darwin Doll...the scan quality sucks, because it's on Donna Mae's signature pink stationary...

Looking through our folder, we have somewhere around 10 or so of the original inventory sheets, which would be about +/- 120 cars, but we've reverse document several more than that...just for grins, here is a list we published back in '04 of some Vin#s, but we've since added cars to our database...

I think you should build a LT-1 70 Corvette. I've had a nova(396 though) and a vettes(427 and 350's) and chicks dig the vette alot more. Plus your wife/girlfriend will let you spend more $ on the vette than that ugly nova.

Having Fun,
Alex

PS-just KIDDING about ugly nova's, but not about running the vette...

I guess the issue is Wally probably knew Yenko was lying (as evidenced by this letter). Yenko emphatically states 500 were built. We know for a fact there were only 177 built.
But I'm all for allowing the corporate approved parts and packages. I'm curious, if I looked at the 1970 AMA specifications for the Nova / Chevy II, does it have the LT-1 listed as an option? Because as far as I can tell, back in the day, if an item wasn't listed in the AMA specifications, it just didn't exist as far as NHRA was concerned. Likewise, if an item was listed, it should be as good as gold to NHRA.

The letter to Wally states 500 have been "sold"...which probably isn't a stretch, because Yenko had a dealer network across the country...the letter is dated early in the '70 model year. In '69 he'd sold 350+ units, and in '69 Yenko was competing against other Chevrolet dealers selling the *exact same cars* delivered from Chevrolet, sand the stripes/emblems...so 500 orders for the only model offered by Yenko for '70 isn't that far of a stretch, especially when you consider that minus the 2 cars that went to Canada Yenko had the market to himself. Hindsight tells us that the looming EPA & insurance crack down really curbed sales, and some Novas sat in showrooms until '72 or '73...! But that's another story for another day...

Can't remember...I'll have to dig 'em up & check. But, the AMA specs shouldn't be the catch all...iirc, the AMA published specs for an LS7 Corvette (454/465hp), as well as another fictional model as well.

BTW: from looking at some handwritten notes from Yenko, it looks like they were shooting for SS/F for the LT-1 Nova? Sound about right??

Chevy 454; Please package all of your documentation and send it to me. I will contact GM, provide your info and ask them to apply for the inclusion of the Duece in the SCCG. It must be done this way; (protocal you know.) This sometimes is a slow process but now is a much better time to try than 1970; many things have changed in NHRA regarding this process.

The Roush cars are no more different than the new S/C Shelby Mustang...so, let's also ban them too!!!

You have alot of anger and you need help. You need to get out more and stop stitting by the computer looking for things to complain about. I dont think there is one thread on this board that you haven't replied to in an "angry" manner. Relax. Classracer is for information and to see whats going on in the world of NHRA/IHRA....Not for internet wars. Crack a cold one and relax brother.
