Colin, You've done very well, your car is impressive. That Brian Wolf called you shows that he is one of the good guys. And that is definitely very cool. Congratulations, and good luck. I saw a few flashes about Calvert's win, but nothing of substance, which begs the question, "where's the beef?" Where's the "win on Sunday, sell on Monday" marketing? |

Keep reaching. One day, you might get there. And besides, anything that MIGHT have happened in the past, depending on your perspective, is an excuse to repeat that same error, again, and again, and again. Like a bunch of three year olds "he did it too! he did it first!". |

My point is that those cars were cutting edge for 1969 and were aimed directly at Stock. I applaud the NHRA for having the AA classes, so that some more of the "cutting edge" sixties combinations can compete. I am also really excited about the fact that more than one manufacturer is looking towards our form of racing at the same time. When was the last time that they were serious about being the "Top Dog" in Stock? |

Re: My First Look at the CJ's
Well let me say this about the new vs. old cars in Stock. I've been looking very hard at putting our 69 Fairlane Cobra back together to compete in Stock. All I need to do to make our car legal is build a legal engine. No big deal right? Now the question is what do I need to do to be competitive in Stock with a 40 year old set up that has been run through the mill by NHRA over the years. So my dilema is do I spend $15,000 or so on a competitive engine to put in a 40 year old car with 117" wb. Or do I build a new CJ clone and be competitive right out of the gate? To me this car has put a fire under me to make a move into Stock knowing I've got a strut front end a 3 link which is basically a 4 link style rear end with coil over springs. Then I have the option of a 5 speed over a 4 speed. To me its a no brainer just money. I would really like to know more on how to get the CJ parts from Ford to build a clone if anybody knows anything (Kenny) drop me a PM.
Thanks, Kris Rachford |

Larry, I'm glad I could help. We all need to smile once in a while. I have to head home. I think the next race we might be at together will be Norwalk, if not that, you know I will be at Indy.
I don't drink but would love to BS about what we do up north. Talk to you soon, keep us posted on what happens at Belle Rose, we are all counting on you and Patsy. |
Re: My First Look at the CJ's
These cars can run in S/S right? If so what class would they be in?
